Does anyone know if the brass washer between the spider gear and the carrier on a 12 bolt is available? I know you can buy a complete internal kit but I really only need the washer. Thanks Wes

They prolly have them in differant thickness also and or they will come in a package of preselected thickness.. for various wear patterns. You asked for spider gears and I presume you are talking about the small ones? Those are spiders,, the axle gears are the larger ones. Rocketrod Jul 17th, 05, 08:29 AM I just purchased the thrust washers from GM about 6 weeks ago. Here is a link to the thread I started, which includes the part numbers for the thrust washers and tips on how to install them. You may also want to consider replacing you axle bearings/seals while you at it. PM me if you have any other questions. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=56131&highlight=spider big gear head Jul 17th, 05, 02:01 PM The brass washers have been replaced by stronger steel washers. The GM part number is 3957940. They come 5 to a pack. I don't know why. Maybe your dealer will sell you 2 of them. MY396 Jul 17th, 05, 03:19 PM Thanks for the part number guys. I am putting all new bearings and seals in my differential and for some reason one of these was missing. big gear head Jul 17th, 05, 05:48 PM Check the case behind the gear. If the thrust washer has been missing for a while then the case might be worn. |
