Confirming that the floorpan is spot welded to the inside of the rocker? Do I drill out the spot welds from the inside out or from the outside in? I'm thinking inside out because the floorpan is the inner most piece? Am I on the right track? I'm doing left half and right half. Thanks for any help.

Thnaks for the info Gene. I have the spot weld cutter, but what about the weld through primer? Isn't the EPDM coating enough? Or is this something completely different? Thanks again.

Robert, I also found using a reciprocating saw with a metal cutting blade does a pretty good job cutting through the welds once you're able to get the blade between the rocker and the floor pan.

EPDM coating is not enough it will peel back once you start to weld, So use a Good weld tru primer such as a 3M type. Follow the instructions on the primer, allow it to dry. Not only will you have a cleaner weld, but it will not rust as fast on the back side of the weld.

If its a coupe i would drill from the outside. That way once your floor is out you already have your holes in your rocker for plug welding. Its easier to grind your welds from the outside also. It is hard to drill from the inside because the way the floor drops down it is near impossible to drill straight into the pinchweld. On my convert i drilled from the inside where i could and used an air chisel on the rest only because the outer rocker is about 1/8 inch steel and tougher to drill through. Its much thinner on a coupe.

Great information guys. I like the idea of drilling from the outside in and already having the holes for the welding instead of drilling the holes in the repro pan. I am planning on using the repro saw for the cutting. Any paint supply or auto supply have the weld thru primer? So I'm assuming I primer the panel before welding? Thanks again guys.
