ok, i dont have a car yet ,but i've been looking, and i'm new to the forum so bear with me. heres what i want to do.
I want a car to build up, i want to take it to shows, i want to be able to drive it around town, and i want it to be fast, but who doesnt? this is what i was thinking, bear with me i'm semi-new to all of this
first gen camaro, RS/SS possible custom convertable?
350, 396 or 454, i can get a running 454, so that is my first choice
manual tranny, 4spd.
if i got a coupe, could a convertable be fabbed up with some clever thinking?
i dont mind building and engine, and im willing to take as much time as it needs. i want to learn as much as possible about engines, interior, body work, everything. i love working on cars and these are my dream cars. also, i know its crazy and prolly a dumb question, but can a 454 be bored out at all? i'll ask more questions and i get more information, but for now any advice is greatly apprectiated. THANKS ALOT!!

ugrider21. Take a look at this post. Bill runs a 1st gen restoration business in your backyard. If you know how to work on cars (sounds like you can), you should talk to him about being a helper or buying one of his projects. Luck

Making a convertible out of a coupe is not a good idea. The roof is actually a structural component on the coupes. To make up for the lack of a roof the convertibles have many different or additional parts to stiffen the structure. Plus from what I understand there are even more differences like the shape of the windshield. If you want a vert start with a vert.
