I'm having some trouble removing an axle from my 12-bolt. The pinion shaft is out and one axle is out. The other is giving me problems. I cannot get the C-lock to come out. The axle pushes in and the C-Lock just rotates on the button end of the axle but will not come off. I've tried needle nose pliers and a magnet, but it just won't come off. Any ideas?????

The first thing that comes to mind is to rotate the C clip so that the open end is facing you, then tap it off the axle with something that's wide enough to span across both ends of the clip.
Watch close for where it falls.
There's obviously something damaged on the axle or the C clip.

Push in on the axle a little harder and see if it helps. Sometimes the axle seal will keep the axle from going in far enough.

I had a simialr problem with one axle. I took a C clamp to lightly push the axle in a little bit. The problem was I had an axle repair bearing, which would not allow removal of the C clip without the C clamp.

Hi All, thanks for the replies. Yesterday after work I went to the garage, cussed at the C-lock for a minute then tried to get it out. It came out in about 10 seconds using a magnet. I must have used the right incantation of cuss-words.
