About done with this 69 Chevelle SS 396! It's pretty cool as it has the original engine, TH400 and 12 bolt. The garnet red paint turned out really nice. I forgot how nice chevelles ride and handle a BB. I guess the slightly bigger car gives a bit more of a smoother ride than our beloved camaros.

Chevelle fan here. Very nice car! I have a 66 Chevelle. If you never made it out to Nashville for the Chevellabration show, you ought to bring your car out there. It's unbelieveable at how fine every car is out there and it's a great time. Again, nice ride!!

Another Chevelle Fan here - beautiful car! I always love Chevelles and Camaros where the owner has taken the time to restore and use them! I've done the Chevelle thing (70 Chevelle SS 396/4 Spd) and now am working on my newest project a 69 Camaro that I just got. Check out the signature for a picture of both cars.

Thanks for the Chevelle pics!! Very, very nice cars!

I had a 70 Chevelle ragtop about 15 years ago and I really liked that car. This is the first Chevelle that I've worked on since selling the 70.

I would love to keep this car but I have too many cars. I enjoy bringing them back to life, but I don't have the room to store more than two done cars and my 67 L30/M20 ragtop and 67 L30/M35 RS coupe are taking up those two spots.

This Chevelle was a really really nice car when I bought it. All original sheetmetal, just a couple small rust spots (very nice CA car). The odometer says about 40k and from the condition of the tranny that could be the mileage. The original motor had been pulled and left on the ground setting on the intake for a looooong time, but it all cleaned up nicely. The car even had the original bleeder master cylinder and two piece rotors when I got it! The original distributor was stuck in the block as it tends to mess up the distributor when you store a 396 upside down resting on the distributor. :clonk:

Anywho, I'm glad that I found the car and was able to wrench on it!

Another Chevelle fan here. Mine was a 69 Malibu convertible. It was slow and heavy, but looked sharp!
My wife talked me into selling it because she didn't like convertibles. Plus she didn't like the fact that every girl I dated since I was 17 years old had ridden in it. http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de//sad/ponder.gif

She gets mad now when I say how we messed up by selling that car. LOL

You did a great job, that red looks awesome!!!

When I learned to drive, my parents had three cars... a 4-banger Dodge Caravan minivan, a 4-banger Ford Ranger pickup and a 4-banger Dodge Aries sedan... needless to say, all were horribly slow and uninspiring to drive...

Then, when I was still 15 I started looking into buying my own car and I wanted a classic... the First car I ever test drove was a '69 Chevelle SS with the L78. Man, it was sweet... from then on, I swore to never buy a 4-banger absent some sort of strange circumstances...

Buying the Chevelle didn't pan out (a little too expensive, and really too nice for a first car), so I got my '68 Camaro! I think my parents liked the fact that I wound up with a 327 better than the idea of a big block.

I can't stand them. They take all my money and just sit in the garage wanting for more parts :D
