I have a non-original quadrajet on my 69 camaro. I have a hard time asking for a rebuilt kit without knowing the model year and model the carb came off from. What numbers am I looking for on the carb to get clues as to where it came from? I asked the parts counter guys if they made a generic Qudrajet rebuild kit but all I get is blank stares.

I believe the number runs vertically on the back side and starts with a 7. I rebuilt them years ago but I can't rember for sure. Getting old!

If you look from the front they run vertically on the drivers side toward the back on the piece of the main body casting that sticks out the farthest.

Okay, I'll take a look. Once I have the casting number, I'm assuming I can do a search and find a decoder online.m Thanks guys.

You should'nt need a decoder just to get a kit or other parts. The parts store should have a catalog that lists kits and parts for each carb number.

That's true.... the number will tell you things like what kind of vehicle it might have been used in, but that doesn't determine what rebuild kit to buy.
Use the number on the carb to buy the right rebuild kit. There's gonna be extra parts left over.
There used to be a break-down on Edelbrocks site that listed what year & vehicle each Q-jet part number corresponded to, but it seems to be gone.
