My 68 convertible appears to have been in a hail storm at some point in its life as there are 50 or so small random dents all over the chrome on the header moulding, windshield moulding, doors etc. Its really bugging me but based on a previous thread the repro's were not very good at the time (2000). Anyway, has anyone recently purchased any of these mouldings? OR has anyone had any luck removing these type of small dents? I would hate to replace the originals since they are in pretty good shape (other than the dents).

Can"t help with the replacement part info , but I have herd similar stories regarding fit with repop window/trim. It must have been some real bad hail to dent this gage metel!

Not sure exactly what happened to it since it was like that when I got the car but it would seem like hail due to the size of the dents and how random they are scattered. I think the new metal is a lot thinner and lower quality. I would like to try to have the dents taken out unless I can find some used ones which are no doubt hard to find. Was wondering if anyone has tried this before?

Dry Ice works will on taking out the hail damage. if you want to salvage any of the metal. Thats what the guys in TX did for our bosses cars and trucks when we got in a storm.
Use welding gloves if ya go that route, the guy says do it in circles around the dent to the center. use smaller circles for small parts

in the eastwood catalog, there's a small anvil looking tool that is used for small dents in w/s trim. never tried it so
couldnt tell how good it is. sonny

It may be from some dufus trying to pound the trim on with a fist. I seen a guy install his trim and dent it all up trying to force it on.

the trim is original but I hear what your saying rick. There's a lot of people out there that can make a square peg fit into round hole. By the way, the dry ice didn't work for me. Maybe it wasn't hot enough or something to expand the metal out or it was too thick for this trick? I guess I'll have to live w/ it for now.
