Anyone know of a REPUTABLE shop or person (preferably in the southeast) who could go thru my original DZ302 and make sure everything is to spec?

The engine has been sitting awhile, and I've taken the heads offs, the oil pan, timing cover, etc to verify dates and originality of the motor.

It has been gone thru before, as the correct pistons have sequence numbers stamped on them. Everything else is original, down to the stamped "O" rocker arms.

Before I started verifying numbers, the engine ran fine..no smoke, no nothing.

I'm hoping I can just pull the motor down, clean it, check clearances, hone the cylinders, and put it back together. I know its something I could do, but given the fact that my VIN is stamped and legible on the block, and the fact that these documented 302's are worth big bucks..I'd rather leave it to a professional.

I'd also like the heads redone.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

If I was in your area I would go to Jerry MacNeish. Would it be like a 4 hour drive?

Sorry, looks like 7-8 hour drive. Still might be worth it.

Jerry is your man. www.z28camaro.com Jerry rebuilt my muncie, he is highly recommended. Drive the engine up to him (and anything else that needs attention). You will be glad you did.
