#124679N641204 should be a 05a car. I have 3 05A cars, 1 before it 9N6402xx & 2 after it 9N6442xx / 9N6464xx ...but that's besides the point considering the other obvious errors on the tag
ChevyThunder Jul 29th, 05, 07:34 AM That trim tag is baaad....bare with no paint it sticks out like a sore thumb and then some!
kz1000ltd Jul 29th, 05, 07:51 AM I emailed the seller, here's his response:
Someone else from a newsgroup wrote earlier, this is all news to me and if true I'm ****ed. I bought the car thinking it is what it is.......I'm in the process or researching this 100%
bertfam Jul 29th, 05, 08:14 AM Yeah, sure... You'll notice that it's still for sale and he's added no additional information. I wonder just how much he's "researching" this!
However, not to be too cynical, let's give him a day or so and see what happens.

sandiegoz28 Jul 29th, 05, 09:27 AM I think this is the overall concern about all the clone and fake cars being produced these days. It's not so much about the guy who cloned it (its his car and he can do what he chooses with it, as we all like to say), but what happens after he sells it and that person sells it again. Seems that's were people are getting screwed.
Full disclosure gets harder with each sale....
What's particular sad is for the new people who want to get into the hobby. They are the most vunerable and if they hear they may get a bogus car, they may bail out, which would be most unfortunate for us all.
Not sure how to fix it though...
36j1967 Jul 29th, 05, 10:00 AM 69-Z11 whats your take on the BB IPC trailer queen, with the warning fan sticker, on ebay? It is the second time around for the car on ebay and this time the seller is stating matching #'s on the block and a replacement tranny. Seller did not reply to my request for a photo of the stampings, I guess I should spend 80K on his word?? I did notice it has a 5k redline tac and alot of aftermarket parts, but a very nice fresh restoration overall. Trailer queen.....maybe getting close if the numbers are good.
69-Z11Pacer Jul 29th, 05, 12:22 PM hahahaha Fan sticker ahahahaha... Sorry those crack me up.
I'll build you a Z11 show quality for 80K :) Seriously.
Car looks decent but I think it's issues were pointed out in another thread. I'll have to check.
kz1000ltd Jul 30th, 05, 08:28 AM I asked him about updating the auction with this new info, and here is his response.
like i said, it's there for all to see. trying to make contact with original owner and see if there's any truth to all of this. thanks again
I responded back by telling him the obvious, just because it's there to see doesn't mean people can spot it out as fake. I also made him aware of this forum, and it would probably be in his best interests to disclose the information now, as opposed to having a lawsuit hanging over his head when the next owner realizes he just bought a fake! However, it's probably the same sad story where somebody get's taken, then decides to pawn off his mistake on somebody else. I'll keep a close eye out on the auction, but I bet he doesn't add anything to it. Guess I'll have to email a few bidders........:D
Mr. C Jul 30th, 05, 11:20 AM [QUOTE=69-Z11Pacer]hahahaha Fan sticker ahahahaha... Sorry those crack me up.
They drive me crazy also, gotta love em!!
kz1000ltd Jul 31st, 05, 07:54 AM Well, at least he ended the auction early after this last rambling reply, need to keep an eye out for this one in the future..........
for the sake of argument let me ask you this...i talked to a camaro guy related to the business.he told me and i quote."they made 3600+ pace cars.. the way to tell the pace convt. is the z11 package, z10 was a hardtop etc". the newsgroup contends that the 50 50 and not 50a # means it's not a true pace. they changed a few things along the way of production, like the location of block stamp etc. who's to say for sure... i had a guy come out last auction with a microscope and research books and the tag was never an issue. this guy knew his camaros too... don't get me wrong, i believe what you have said and i have some degree of faith in the newsgroup but now I'm hearing conflicting stories. i have nothing to gain selling something that isn't what it is but until i see concrete proof from a pro (which i am waiting on as i write this) what can i do,....i appreciate all of your input as well...thanks again
sandiegoz28 Jul 31st, 05, 02:04 PM You know, the sad thing is if the car really was an RS/SS Convertible with a matching numbers drive line, the tag converstion wouldn't have yielded a lot of extra value (assuming it was undetectable), as an original RS/SS convertible is pretty desirable.
Now, the car is jaded as a result of the bogus tag. Who knows what else was tampered with....
edd Gordon Jul 31st, 05, 02:29 PM I have seen quite a few "Tribute and Clone and Recreation" cars in the Daytona area and I have spoken to some of the owners of these cars and they have said to me they didn't care if it was real or not they bought the car cause that is what they wanted and original or not they love the car. I quess the is Disposible money talking.
