One of the big car mags had an article about putting a carb on a LT1 motor a few years ago. I believe edelbrock is the only company that makes the intake for the motor and a carb.
There is a company that makes an aftermarket coil pack system for the LT1s that replaces the opti but most people that I have heard using it end up back with the opti.
The computer controlls a lot of things on the LT1 motors besides the FI and opti so you may not be able to completely get rid of it.

well, hello! I can't help you much although the link the the ATS guys is going to be your best option, I have a 454 with a Viper T56 from D+D it comes with the adapter plate etc to bolt up directly to a stock bellhousing so there is no guess work. However I am a little confused. YOu are putting the LT1 AND T56 in? if so the tranny should bolt right up to the LT1. All you would need is the crossmember and motor mounts. Again just do some searching on the misc boards, the answers are out there. Also make sure to call ATS at the above link.

if you run the GM intake, you can then run any old small block distributor once you take the "dummy" plug out that drives the oil pump.
GM sells a cover that replaces the opti and has a timing pointer- you then need a timing tape to set your timing, but that's available at any parts store in the cheap chrome section..
they used to sell the LT4 as a carbed crate motor with the intake, HEI, and distributor plug. all the parts are still available thru GM.
intake- 24502592
distributor plug plate- 12367600

other than that, and finding hoses to fit- it is a direct bolt in. you might need to do some research for the hydraulic clutch, but the T56kit.com site should be able to hook you up.
and what harness did you get with it? if it's an aftermarket harness, PM or email me and we cna negotiate a fair price for me to take it off your hands. if it is stock from a Camaro or something, nevermind.

t56kit.com no help!the lt1 engine can be used with the gm intake with hei.I just wonder how it would run.Really need help with stuff like motor mounts, clutch master cylinder mounting, master cylinder rod.I have manual brakes so brake booster interference is not a prob.I just think lt1,factory aluminum heads that can be ported and make gobs of power, factory roller cam,T56 trans would be killer with carb.Plus i only have $1600 in entire 94 formula that is hit in front.I can part car and get most of my money back.I will document how it runs on here and share info.Any help now would be great.

I wish harness was aftermarket, but its not.I do have entire harness uncut with computer for t56 manual trans car, sensors, fuel pump, intake, injectors, all the FI stuff and dont really know what its worth.I may also sell the lt1 but dont know yet.I figure harness and all the stuff should be worth around $400 including pcm.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong - but I believe the LT1 will bolt right in with '70 Camaro motor mounts. Are you replacing a small block?
