I'll be heading back to the 1/4 mile for my first run in over 15 years and was wondering if anyone can give me a ballpark idea of what e/t's to expect.

Last time I ran the car, I was running this set-up:

355ci, .447/.465 lift cam, 9:75 compression, 76cc iron heads w/2.02 & 1.76 valves, 650 Holley on a Edelbrock Performer manifold, Mallory dual point ignition, Hooker competition headers, dual turbo muffs, Turbo 350 w/shift kit & stock converter, 2.73 open rear w/single leaf springs & 235/60 R 14 BFG Radial T/A's on Centerlines. P/S and no A/C. Sorry, I don't know what my actual h/p is, just a guess at around 350/360 (at flywheel) .

I ran a best of 14.40 (and like 106 mph?) with this set-up & smoked the tire for at least 100-150 feet.

I am now running the same motor with an Edelbrock Performer 625 carb, same intake & exhaust, Flowmasters, and M-21 4-speed with a RAM street/strip clutch, 8.5" 4:11 posi rear with Hotchkis springs front & back ( 1/1/8 sway bar). Unfortunately, I am still running the same street tire size & type on steel rallyes (I know this will be a weak point). Also, only 5k miles were put on the motor since then & it runs better now than ever.

I was hoping to get into the high 13's with a street tire & this set-up. Is this hoping for too much?

Thanks & any insights/hints/suggestions are welcome!

At 106 MPH I would think it's all about traction and the '60. I think the 4 speed would be the biggest variable. 106 is good for what, mid - high 12's with traction?

Considering what you ran with the old setup, as long as you dont run out of gear with the new 4.11 gears, you have every bit the potential of going as fast or faster and the posi will help......but its just hard to tell for sure cause you cant predict tirespin. Either way, you do have a car thats capable of getting well into the 13's for sure......some sticky tires would definitely show that. with the street tires and 4 speed, it will take practice though to get it to hook well enough to run 13's......but, it can do it. It coulda done it 15 years ago if it ever hooked, so if you get serious about bracket racing....the most important changes would be some sticky tires, subframe connectors to stiffen it up, and probably a traction device for sure. The motor itself sounds to be able to go faster than what your hoping for as long as you can make it hook right. Good luck.

are you sure about 106? that would go 12's...

anyway, it just might the same or slower... with the 4.11's, wheelspin will be a huge problem, and much harder to control with the stick.

Really can't go by the MPH due to tire spin, it throws MPH Vs. HP out the window.
I would agree that you could have got a 14.0 or 13.XX if you had the tire spinning fixed. With what you have now, 13.5's to 13.7's should be easy with traction and good shifting.
Post your times when you get back.

For comparison , My old times were 13.51 @ 102 with traction,2.73's, and 2.0 60's on radials.

Thanks guys for all of your input. Sounds like high 13's are possible if I can get the car to hook. On the street, the multileaf springs have helped greatly, but will spin if I dump the clutch anywhere over 2,000 RPM (or just stand on it for that matter).

Hopefully, I'll get a few chances at the track to try different things to get it to launch well. Any suggestions?
