I am pretty much completely illiterate when it comes to heads, specs etc... So i had to trust my engine builder when he told me what heads he was using on my new 383. Heres the deal, Dart Iron Eagle 200cc/64cc. Good choice?? And a Comp Cam...extreme energy or something like that, so clueless when it comes to this stuff.

I have iron eagle 180's (the number refers to the volume of the intake port) on my 327, and flat love em. IMHO, the best aftermarket iron street head available.
Comp XE is a series of cams that use very steep ramps, somewhat violent valve action, and a much longer exhuast than intake duration. There should be a number associated with it (advertised duration) An EX268 is a great cam for a mild street engine with stock heads, an EX292 is a fairly radical stick.

I do know its a relatively mild cam. So could very well be the EX268 you mention. Thanks for the vote of confidence on the heads. I figured they had to be good, this is a very well respected engine shop but never hurts to get the opinions of the very knowledgeable folks on here. And igured many of you probably run Dart Iron Eagles on your cars.

The xe 274 would probably be better suited for your 383. My uncle has the xe 268 in his 350 and it is perfect for it. My engine builder said that he has done several 400's with the xe 274, and a few 383's and everyone has loved the combo. Just my 2 cents.... :D

Yeah i have no idea what cam their putting in but i will ask them tomorrow. They way the guy described it to me was that i will have a little lope to it but still mild and great for street.
