View Full Version : Another window fuzzies question
Brackneyc Aug 4th, 05, 10:00 PM I ordered the fuzzies from one of our suppliers, and I bought the more expensive "factory style" set for my 67. None of the attached clips for the drivers side door line up with the slots that they are supposed to slide into. Has anyone ever seen this, and what should I do? I considered just making new slots in the top of the door. I'm not sending them back, and the originals were missing when I got the car. It is only the outside strip on the drivers door. The rubber piece for the inside fits fine.
This01 Aug 5th, 05, 02:47 AM In Ron Sessions Camaro Owner Handbook, he says you have to cut off any hook that doesn't line up and drill a hole in the felt and sheet metal to install a screw or plastic rivet instead. Hope this helps I'm sure others will chime in. By the way what supplier did you use? Good luck!
Brackneyc Aug 5th, 05, 06:08 AM That does help. I appreciate it. I have seen some cars at shows that had the felts screwed in, and now I know why. I bought the felts from Classic Industries. They have been awesome to do business with, but I bought the felts about 6 months ago. I'm sure they would take them back, but I didn't even take them out of the box until about 3 weeks ago, so I sort of feel like I waited a little too long to expect an exchange.
I'll do the drilling method. As long as they are on there, and look ok, I'll be happy.
BillK Aug 5th, 05, 10:30 AM Brack,
Do whatever you want to make yours work to your satisfaction but .... if you do not at least call your supplier and tell them that the parts did not fit, you are doing everyone else a disservice. Unless we all start to complain EVERY time a repop part is not correct ... the problem will never get fixed. I have given up on window felts for my Chevelle, I found all nos ones to the tune of $400 but guess what .. they fit perfect without any modifications.
Brackneyc Aug 6th, 05, 07:30 AM I will call them Bill. I just figured mine were a fluke, since I haven't seen much about them. Maybe I need to read more. :) I also am taking into consideration that my car may have something wrong with it. I have had to correct a lot of little things that the previous owners had done to it. I am sure we have all experienced this. :)
JimM Aug 6th, 05, 08:05 AM I used standard pui fuzzies from Rick's, every single clip lined up perfectly with the notches in the Goodmark doors.

I guess I got a bad set then. Maybe I will send them back.
Mark C Aug 6th, 05, 07:17 PM No you didn't I got a set probably 10 years ago when the round chrome style fuzzies first came out, and none of the clips lined up then either. I pulled each one out and rest them, but they still don't sit exactly right and move alittle as the window is rolled up and down.
Brackneyc Aug 9th, 05, 06:22 AM I have come to to the conclusion that it is not the fuzzies, but rather the door itself. My best guess is that someone put a 68 skin on my 67 door. I don't even know if this is possible, but the fuzzies match each other from side to side, but the doors do not. What I am saying is that if I lay the two sets (left and right side) the clips match up perfectly.
So, with that information, can I still adapt the fuzzies to work without it looking cobbled. I'm not buying another set to get just one piece. Maybe I can find one that will fit at a swap meet, or on TC. Otherwise, should I make new slots in the door, or screw/rivet it to the door. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure they'd take 'em back. A couple weeks ago I sent back unopened items from invoices as far back as 2001. No problem at all. CI is very good about things like that.
