Getting ready to install new bushings, and I wonder if this is right. The small bushings for the rear of the spring are somewhat wider than the spring itself. the two halves slide easily into the spring, but once together, they are very wide. It is hard to explain, but it seems like the bushings are too long. Does this make sense. Thanks

there are 2 sets of bushings out there. one set has a shoulder thickness of about 3/4", these are wrong. the correct ones are about 1/2" wide.

i'm assuming this is for a first gen.

The shackle bushings are probably for a 2nd gen. The shackle bolts are about 3/4 to 1" wider then 1st gen.

The bolt size is right, and the shoulder thickness is about 1/2 inch. The part number on the box says they are for a 67. Should I trim the bushings to the correct size? Would that be safe? All I would be doing is making the rubber a little shorter. Thanks.

How much excess are we talking about?

I took 1/4 inch off each bushing and they fit like I think they were supposed to. I have the car back on the ground after 7 months of being without the axle under it. I won't be driving it for several more months (next summer most likely) so I am not going to worry too much about it right now. It looks good though, and seems fine.
