I am going out to a huge salvage yard to pick up some seats from a 78-81 camaro to put in my 68. I was hoping to get some advice on what to look for on the frame and tracks to make sure I get some decent ones. I already have new seat covers so I am not concerned about that.
Thanks,
Justin

The basic thing that you want to look for is the condition of the springs. If they are broken, it is hard to replace them on a second gen seat. There are presently no repros of the springs. You need to check the functionality of the tracks. Hopefully they will move the full range. That however is not a stopper. You can dissassemble the tracks to clean and lube them then clean the rust off the frame and paint it before assembly. You will have to replace the seat buns. The foam will be dry rotted because of the age of the seats. Good Luck. Hope you find what you need.

Why 2nd gen, and not 3rd or 4th? (I am a curious guy :) )

I have seats from a 79, passenger seat is in good condition springs support wires all good. Driver side is pretty wrecked though, springs are there but the support wires are all shot. Check the classifieds, i posted pictures in there.
