For folks that have installed SFCs ... I've read the previous posts and looked at the photos, but I've still got a question regarding the routing of the brake lines.
I'm leaning towards the SFCs from Detroit Speed & Engineering because they tuck up to the body and seem 'cleaner', but where do the brake lines go? Do they hang down to (possibly) get caught on something? That concerns me 'cause my Camaro will be pretty low to the ground.

How 'bout the SFCs from Global West or Competion Engineering - how are the brake lines with those?

Not an answer to your question, but you should be aware that the DSE subframe connectors require that you cut into the floorboard. I have a set, not installed yet, but hopefully soon...

Convertables already have more frame strengthening then the coupe... would a SFC really improve anything? Anybody know for sure (not theory or opinion)?

They help alot! I put CE. subs on my 69 vert and couldn't believe the difference in the way the car felt, handled and performed. If you have a hi HP motor I feel they are absolutely necessary. The last thing you would need is body twist- its a killer on verts. The CE subs are not made for verts, what I did was weld front and rear and notched the cross brace so the sub would fit up into it then welded it to the brace on both sides. It sits up against the floor pan and doesn't cause any ground clearance issues, looks clean. Even with a modest HP engine, the handling improvement is worth the effort.

SO there are no bolt on subframe connectors for verts?

I'm not 100% sure but I do recall seeing bolt on subs for vert. I believe it was Detroit Speed & Eng. Check Summitt also if not DSE.

From what I've seen it will require cutting & welding. Cutting because of the additional bracing that that the convertible has in the way.

Global West's connectors bolt on in the front and weld on in the back but do not require any cutting. I have them on mine and can really tell the difference.

Global West's part number for their 1st gen subframe connectors is 900C they are excellent and work great! Look them up at www.globalwest.net and then look at all of their first gen stuff. They do weld in the back to the rear subframe but dont all sub frame mounts?

The GW web site states 'new Design' for the 900-C SFCs. Anyone using the 'new design'? If so, how low do they hang down? Is there room to route the brake & fuel lines between them and the body or will the brake & fuel lines have to be tweeked around the SFCs?

I have yet to scrape my subframe connectors I have scraped the crap out of my collectors though. My car is down 3" in front and 2" in the rear. I have the new style connectors and I'm not sure what the old ones were like. They do hang down but only in one spot and not any lower than the collectors on my car. Hope this helps.

thanks - good info. One more question, did you have to re-route the brake or fuel lines or do they fit under the SFC's?

You may have seen my site if you read prevous posts on connectors:

http://www.ragersworld.com/subframeconnectors.htm

As I recall I did not have to touch any part of the break lines during the install.

The Global West connectors bolt on in front and weld on in the rear. You could bolt the rear portion on if you wanted but it would not be as strong.

You can tell a big diffrence when you put them on a vert.

I used the $99.00 Jegsters connectors from Jegs and the brake lines just needed a little nugg'n but where no problem. And for all you guys out there that are conserned with the little cuts needed on the floor pan to install these frame connectors, that will all go away the first time you take your Vert out for a ride, you notice the rigiditiy improvement immediately!!! I highly recommend them.
