Does anyone know what is the proper color of the iside of a 1969 rally wheel?

My car was built in June and when I look at my spare it appears to be black?

Would the color be the same for a steel wheel as well? (black)

I have seen some that are grey and just want to paint them correctly.

Thanks for any help.

They were semigloss black. Iused Rustolium 7777 on the back, and then sprayed Argent Silver on the front, allowing overspray to go thorugh the rally slots. Actually, I masked off the area around the outside of the slots, and sprayed argent through them until I got the look I liked. Then I masked off the slots from the back and sprayed the argent on the front.

Jerry McNiesh' books says 60% gloss black.
But were all spare tire rims putty grey on both sides?

No. The spare wheel & tire were exactly the same as the four on the ground - all five were processed the same way; four went on the ground, one went in the trunk. The space-saver spare was different; it came from the tire manufacturer already mounted on a special wheel.
