What vehicles came with a 200R4 in them? I am wondering if they are hard to find or not? I have access to some salvage yards and want to know what to look for. What ID pieces do they have to look for on them or shape of the pan or somehting? Thanks!!!

V8 (that's important, as I understand bolt patterns are different; they are in the 700s) Monte Carlo (Cutlass, etc) type bodies. I'm not sure about bigger cars (Caprices, etc) Not f-bodies, and I don't think trucks, even small ones.

My favorite candidates for a donor THM200-4R trans to fit a Chevy pattern are as follows;
81~90 Olds - Full Size, 88 & 98 models
83~87 Olds - Cutlass
85~87 Olds - 442 models
84~87 Pontiac - Grand Prix
84~87 Chevrolet - Malibu
84~86 Chevrolet - Monte Carlo
85~90 Chevrolet - Impala
Hope this helps;

If I follow the chart correctly provided by H\highway Star Joe then I would expect to find a 4L80 , the overdrive version of the thm400- correct? Assuming you are looking for strength and durability. Now the ? arises as to what vehicle came with this transmission and is there a better year than another?

Hey I just bought a 200R4 from a place called Bowtie Overdrives www.BowtieOverdrives.com
These people are awsome, if you know nothing about trannies then these are the people to get them from, they will lead you by the hand step by step on all critical steps of setting it up. The trannies are actually well priced, these folks have spent the last decade researching them and overdrive trannies are ALL they do. I DO highly suggest that you purchase the crossmember that they offer for it, cause if you just get the 400 crossmember then everytime you need to remove your pan then you also have to remove the crossmsmber too. Check them out you will be supprised at the prices and the customer support that they offer........007
PS message me and let me know how it worked out for you
