Hey guys,

I am also considering purchasing an OER set of console gauges.
I have a set of originals that has been sitting in my garage for about 15 years, we got it at a swap meet back then. I have no idea if they work & they probably need to be completely restored.

It would be so much easier for me to just sell them & buy a set of OER's

Any input? Anyone have the OER's? Are they really impossible to tell the difference once installed like they claim?

If the housing is slightly off, I may have an extra original housing I could use with the repro gauges... just trying to figure out my best option on this...

As always, your input is appreciated.

I purchased used factory tach and gauges for my 67 almost twenty years ago. I finally got around to installing them this year. I dissembled them, carefully cleaned them up, and polished the lenses. I also repainted the housing. The clock was dead and I replaced the movement. All the old gauges work perfectly. I enjoyed cleaning them up and I enjoy seeing them finally working after all those years sitting inactive in my garage.

I would only trade my original gauges for reproductions if they were broken beyond economic repair.

I'll tell ya' man... I never had more trouble in my life than I have had w/OER parts... I shudder at the sight of the packaging. After test fitting and/or inspecting and sending back just about every OER part that arrived, I have started just restoring my factory stuff.. I've never inspected the gauge pod though.. Keep us posted....

Nick, for less than the cost of aftermarket gauges/bezels/wiring, you could restore the originals. If you don't want to do it yourself, there are places that will tackle it for you.

Unless of course you want to sit on those originals for 20 more years until they're worth about $5000.
