I suppose so but why? It would cost far more to restore than it would EVER be worth. You would just have to love the headach of a restore job I guess. My opion would be it would be easier to buy one that is done for a heck of a lot less.

Take a closer look at the interior!! :D I thinks that the rare Ozie and Hariot, Father Knows Best or My Three Sons edition pace car interior... graemlins/beers.gif

Of course the car is salvagable. Almost any of them are. It is all a matter of how much you are willing to invest. If you want to keep it forever, no problem. If you want to try to turn it around to make a buck don't bother. You will invest between $25,000.00 and $30,000.00 to restore it and that is if you do most of the work (including sheet metal repair). The only picture that gave me a fit was the picture of the trim tag. I know it is a little blurry but it looks to be spot welded on instead of riveted on. But what do I know.

What a mess. Ha DJD I didn't notice the seats when I looked earlier. The seats are the optional hounds-flannel style.

What's the most you would pay for a Pace Car in that shape?

Not that much. That's for sure. I can't believe that it is over $3,000.00. I might give $800.00 to $1,000.00 if the original drivetrain is all there. The more I look at the pictures, the less salvageable sheet metal I see. It looks like the cowl may be the only piece left that hasn't rotted out or been cut off. I intend to keep a eye on this one for the giggles.

I dont know whether you should salvage this one or not...... the interior is nice but it would cost more than its worth. But if you have the time and money then go for it!

I'm surprised at how many people think you couldn't fix it for less than it's worth. A nice pacer goes for 28-30k easy. This one has original engine and rear axle. using repro sheet metal and assuming you paid 4k for the car, I doubt you'd be over 20k if you did it yourself. Just my opinion.

i agree 69-z11pacer there are enough positives to give it a shot
convertable top frame
12-bolt
engine (original)
trim tag
vin #
also the car looks like a 4spd although the ad says comes with a 400
i have to many going right now or i would study it more just from what i see i think it will go
in the neighbor hood of 6500
anyone who has been restoring cars for a while
under stands how desirable cars to redo are getting harder and harder to find and will have
more involved resto's to do
this is a prime candidate for a rebody
KZ your car is almost a rebody?
quarters /tail panel/trunk pan/ doors/ finders/ hood
cars that don't need all that kind of surgery are hard to find much less a ss/rs pace car graemlins/beers.gif

Wrong again, Z10.....my car still has original GM doors, fenders and tail panel, although the hood, decklid, header panel and quarters were replaced with new Goodmark sheet metal, does that make it a "rebody"?

8 days left bid is $6800.00 looks to me like you would be getting a block , crank , heads 12 rear and vin plate. To do a top notch resto that would bring $30,000.00 you would have to put nos or repro parts and you would have that in parts. When you do a basket case car figure what you can do the job for then double that and you will be close.Any car can be saved but is it worth it?

KZ, you posted a few weeks ago regarding an entire repro shell for a '69. I bet with the right swapping and tons of labor and reasonable $ you could make a sweet ride WITH the right tag and it would be in better shape than most 35 year old cars!
Say you buy the pace car for 7K the "new shell" and swap everything that you can, then add 20k for the rest, you would be around the "resale value" of the finished product and you would have one very nice car. I think anybody would consider it a masterpiece for the $.
Another way of looking at it: A "survivor" pace car would bring huge $$$...why? Because they are in super original condition! With the new shell, It would be brand new metal, only YOU assembled it and not GM...

I agree, but then you get into that fuzzy area of swapping vin/cowl tags, and in my opinion, it's just not worth it, unless you are building a car for yourself that will NEVER be sold, and everyone knows there is no such thing as NEVER, especially us married folks........ smile.gif
