What would cause a slight hesitation between the time the ignition key is turned and the time the starter kicks in? The hesiation is barely perceptive, (maybe 1/2 second) but it's now there where it wasn't before. I've gone through the starter and solenoid , but could'nt find anything. I don't know if it is wrong, but it sure doesn't feel right. Thanks Kevin

It could be a corroded firewall connection, old crimped terminals, or a slow acting solenoid.
A couple things you might try in troubleshooting the problem, hook up a test light, ie, back-up bulb socket with bulb, and connect one end to ground, the other end to the S terminal on the solenoid itself. The bulb brightness would show the strength of the start signal.
The other tip is to temporary substitute with a new wire, the purple wire going to the S terminal. This would eliminate an older wire and its connections.
The solenoid plunger may need lubing to allow it to slide easier in its bore.
It could also be a slow battery. It does take some time for the chemical reaction to happen within the cells and especially for it to work its way up to full amperage when called upon.
Food for thought...........

Every inch of wiring, the battery, and all the connections are new on the car . I didn't know if I could lub the solenoid so I'll give it a try. Thanks for the advice. Kevin
