I hope someone can help? There are some pads that run the lenght of the top above each side glass. Mine are starting to shred up.Can you replace just these pads..and if so how, and where do you get them. I love this site. Just been a member for a couple of weeks and have fixed more problems and answered more questions in that time than in years of wondering and searching. Kudos to all of you and THANKS!

The pads can be bought, from someone who does vert tops, or from one of the repro houses. They can be replaced separately, but... you have to pull off the front 2/3's of your top to do it. The pads staple into9 the rear bor and the windshield header, from above.

The side padding sets are available from most of the repoppers or from www.convertibleparts.com

Do a search on Convertible Top Replacement on the site for directions in attaching the pads to the top bows and the top material on the sides.

how does your top look? if you even think your top might need replacing, just replace the top. that way, you will also have a new to. if you do it yourself, i guess you will be saving money but it is a pain in the rear. as jim said, youwill have to remove most of the top material to replace it. im talking about pulling everything off forward of the rear window. you can see what im talking about my just looking at the inside rear of the top at the rear bow where it is stapled to the tack strip. you will also need to determine if you will need new tack strips also. it is a pretty big process. i repladce my own top and that is the last time im going to do that. if you have someone else replace the pads, just fork over the extra couple of hundred bucks and redo the whole top. the only reason that i think you should not replace the whole top and just the pad is if your top is in PERFECT condition. otherwise, just do the whole thing. you might be happier in the long run.

this is only my opinion as i know how hard it is to find that money tree.
