The wife surprised me for my B-day with tickets to the Busch and Cup race in Bristol. I've never been to this track, but have always wanted to , so this is way cool. Anyway , anybody have any tips for accessing the track and parking?? I'll be approaching from the north ( Interstate 81 ). Also , any attractions anyone know of in the area for killing time Saturday morning??Any tips would be appreciated ...I hate going into a large event like this blind.

Take GOOD ear protection! That place is so loud, guess thats why they call it "Thunder Valley"
Parking at Bristol is something I think needs a lot of improvement....didnt like it at all.Be prepared to sit awhile unless you get lucky!

I have been to the races at Bristol countless times, and might go this weekend too. My advice is don't even try to park right at the track. Park away from the track and be prepared to walk.

I have been to both the spring and night races numerous times. IMO the Sat night race is the best. I also think it is easier to travel after the night race because alot of people camp and aren't in a big rush to leave. When the spring race is over on Sun afternoon it is a mad dash to get out of there.

I usually come in on I-81 and exit at Bristol. Then I go through Bristol towards the track. About a mile or so before you get to the track there is a church on the left. It is a huge church with plenty of parking, and all of the money goes to their youth group. The best part is you are headed right out of ther when you leave. I have never had any problem getting out when parking at the church. Sure it is a good little walk from the track but it beats sitting for hours in traffic IMO.

The church is called Avoca something. Avoca is a small community right around the track area.

Regardless if you park there or not, I wouldn't recommend parking real close to the track.

What are you doing about a hotel, if you don't have a room that might be your biggest problem. I think you will really like the race.

Chevy Thunder , you have pm... Ck2 going to stay up the road in Wytheville?? Never heard of it but they'll leave the lights on for us !
I'm really looking forward to this. We got some really good seats from a friend at work who has been going for many years. ( earnhardt terrace ... way up top and in the middle ...hopefully the coming and going part doesn't get too hateful. I've been to several tracks and it appears that some really make an effort to move people in and out and some tracks more or less let you figure it out for yourself.

No, I wish it was 10 minutes away. It's defenitely Wytheville , just south of Roanoke. I was told by the folks I got the tix from it's about 45 minutes to the track . They gave us the hotel rez as well.

I know exactly where Wytheville is. Have a good time and let us hear what you thought about it. I might go if I can come up with some tickets. I even thought about running down for just the Busch race.

It's a shame but they have just about jacked the price up on this stuff to where the average family can't afford it.
