Hey Guys,
This morning I had an email from Ebay, that stated my account was going to close if I didnt update my account information soon. Everything look legit, the link brought me to the normal sign in page I always go to. But the first thing it asked for was to verify the credit card I had on file.
Thats fine, but it asked for my PIN NUMBER!!!!!! I have NEVER had to put my pin number in for my debit card. This seemed like legit Ebay...but there is no way I would give my card number, my 3 digit security number thats on the back of the card...and my PIN?? I obviously decided not to do anything.

Anyone else get this...am I right that no one should be asking for my PIN number.

Thanks
Tim

If you did sign in on that page it brought up for you, they did get your ebay user ID and Password when you signed in.
Stay away from any emails from ebay that address you by your username instead of your real name. That's the first sign of a fake ebay email.

Yes - you are right...

Never post your PIN anywhere, but you can post your VIN on here ;)

Change your password(s) immediately (and change them to a letters and numbers combination) and you should be fine.

The same thing happened to me. There are a ton of criminals circling ebay users like vultures. They know nine times out of ten if they can get you to hand over your ebay info, they can get to your paypal account info as well...from there, they can easily clean your accounts out.

Tim,
Ebay & PayPal will never send you an e-mail asking for this information. Matter of fact, they send regular e-mails telling you that they do not do it. I always forward the suspected e-mails to "spoof@ebay or paypal" If you are a regular e-ay user, you would be wise to read thier security pages, they have lots of good info.

Tim,
I have had it sent to me a couple of times. I forwarded it back to eBay to the
spoof@ebay address and they comfirmed that it was a scam; they will investigate it for you too. They will not ask you for that type of information.
They are right, you should change your pass word today.
