I need to have an engine shipped from Bloomington IL to New Orleans, LA. Which truck freight companies do you guys have opinions on?

I have used con way in the past, but they just went WAY up on their prices, so I am looking for other options (I know they all might be increased with gas, but it's worth a phone call to see).

I used Yellow freight. Becareful how you describe the engine. A new engine cost much more to ship than a used or "junk" engine.

I second the Forward Air. I sent a 350 short block from San Diego Ca, to Oklahoma for right around $100. Its point to point, you need to bring to the dock and they need to pick up from the dock, but it works well. Much cheaper than anyone else I called.
