Hey y'all!
I have a couple questions maybe you guys can help me with. I have been offered a sales position in Commercial Real Estate and was wondering if anyone had any input as to what that is like. I was in high line automobile sales before I got so fed up with my dealer that I decided to take the summer off and spend time with my family, play A LOT of golf, and just get a break. Well, summer is over and I am ready to get back to work!

Is anyone in this field? Is it a good career? Any advice, comments or suggestions? Etc.

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

My wife is in residential real estate, if you need any info on that, I could help you out, but I have no insight on commercial.

I do both commercial and resendential and I find the commercial more rewarding in both commission and people you work with. They are generally more in tune with the world, finance, lawyers etc. and things seem to move along easier than home buying. The treck into commercial can take a long time to learn and get linked to the 'players' in the market too. At one moment you think you have a deal and some other 'smarter' broker give the client a better deal and pop you are done. The disclosure rules are relaxed in commercial since most buyers use inspectors to represent them. Ive seen folks go directly into commercial RE but last about 6 months as deals take so long to finalize and close but the groceries need to be bought every week. Maybe consider the residential real estate first to 'learn the ropes' then work into the commercial. Just an idea. Things are different in big city than small where I am, agents here get into any kind of real estate they can but commercial is getting more specilized and time consuming too. Good luck tupelo :)

Yeah He offered me the Commercial because he knows I have NO interest in the residential side....and because of my previous occupations (Golf Professional, Mercedes Sales) I have already been doing business with the "big hitters" in our area for the last 13 years. He said the Commercial side is pretty much Mon-Fri whereas I know residential is crazy hours. Crazy hours are why I left the car biz. He said it would take about a year to really make serious money....but I am fine with that.

Just curious as to anyone who does it kind of filling me in on the hours and such. He really stressed that it was Mon-Fri pretty much 9-5 type hours. Because he has known me a while and knows why I left my last position.

Sales...and with a broker who owns about 90% of the county I live in. He is a member at my club and was curious if I would come work for him since most people know me pretty well.
