A friend of mine has a 96 Z-28 6-speed. I love it. I have an oppurtiunity to buy a 94 Z-28 4-speed auto without the engine. What would it take in order to convert the auto to a 6-speed? Obvously I will need the tranny, a clutch, and a pedal. What else would I need. About how much would it cost?

Welcome to Team Camaro Mark! We're really more of a 67-69 Camaro site, but we seem to be getting more and more of the later model folks lately.

The simple answer is too much, given the small (if any) difference in the used purchase price of a manual or automatic Camaro. The computers are different, the pedal setup is different, and it is a lot of work in space that is TIGHT! The price for the transmissions (T-56) seems to be creeping up thanks to ebay and all of us guys that are putting them in old Camaros (mine's just a 5-speed).

Seriously, unless the 94 auto car is a low mileage gem dirt cheap and you can find a wrecked manual donor car dirt cheap, I would just buy a manual car to start with.

Ditto, There is way too much to change. Trans, Clutch, Pressure Plate, Flywheel, Clutch master and slave, wiring harness, computer, etc... More time and effort than it is worth. Just find a 6 Speed car and trade for it. I do love the 6 speed in my 93Z
