I'm looking for info regarding the vacuum line going from the diverter valve to the Q-Jet. 69 396/325 auto. What port on the Q-Jet does the vacuum line attach? Also, anyone know why a "T" connector is included in the smog hose kit (reproduction)?

Thanks Mark. That's where the AIM shows it going but I didn't think it should go there. I've been running my car without A.I.R. for awhile without that port capped. I tried to cap it once and the engine ran like crap. Maybe the valve doesn't completely close the vacuum system.
Anyone have input on this?

The kits have the "T" connector because on Holley applications you have to cut the short hose to the choke pull-off diaphragm and insert the "T" in that hose to feed the diverter valve.

If you're talking about not capping the port on the carb, you're running with a continuous vacuum leak. The valve completely closes the vacuum system unless the diverter valve diaphragm has ruptured.

Thanks John, always great info. Yeah I guess now I know where the vacuum leak has been happening. :D
Looks like I've been driving both the Chevelle and Camaro with the same vacuum leak. I've always heard it, but assumed it was the carbs on these big blocks doing whatever???. :clonk:
All this after rebuilding motors and doing body work for the first time. Just when ya think you got these cars figured out, it's the little things that get us everytime.
Learn something everyday!
Thanks again.
