OK, finishing up some little details on my car, decided to install the shoulder belt clips. However, the headliner was already replaced when I got the car, and although they mounted the shoulder belts and the first retaining clip, both of the larger front clips have not been installed! :clonk: I searched the archives and didn't find anything, I need to know how to find the mounting points, without putting several big holes in my nice new headliner? Anyone have a picture, or better yet, some measurements to get me in the right ball park???

if you think they are the same as a 68 I think I can get some measurments from the coat hook to the clip or clips.

Ok went out and got them anyway. From the FWD edge of the coat hook the first clip is 13 1/8 inches to the center of the clip the second is 18 3/8 inchs from the FWd edge of the coat hook. The holes for the screws are 3/8 inch from the center of the clip. I hope this helps you out. MIght try poking a push pin or sewing needle arount to find the holes. You could use the sewing needle or push pin to mark the holes, then check your measurements?

Joe :beers:

I had to find my coat hanger holes. I just took the trim off and carefully pulled the headliner down a little to find the hole. Wouldn't this work for you?

If you feel around you will feel the flat spot in the metal behind the headliner. Once you find the flat spot (that's where the clips are mounted) feel around for the holes. You will be able to feel them then then just poke an ice pick through the headliner and into the hole. I just did mine that way yesterday, and it was no problem.
