View Full Version : They are here! 67 Shock plates for multileaf setup!
HLSASS Sep 8th, 05, 03:58 PM Detroit Speed and engineering has a great set of custom shock plates for a 67 camaro with multileaf setup. They are made with 5/16" steel and are zinc coated. I had a steel shop try to fabricate one and it cost $150! These are only $54 for both. I think I got the first ones off the line. They really are cool and finally, one does not have to use the thinner mono plates or move the shocks.
JimM Sep 8th, 05, 04:22 PM that might be a good thing to post up on the new parts review section, include contact info, too!
in a year or so, we should have quite the parts reference built up.
Farm Boy Sep 8th, 05, 05:00 PM Are you referring to these? http://www.detroitspeed.com/LowerShockPlates10.html (http://www.detroitspeed.com/LowerShockPlates10.html)

Before you buy them read this: http://www.camaros.net/forums/showt...ht=shock+plates (http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=31330&highlight=shock+plates)
The holes don't line up.
pdq67 Sep 8th, 05, 06:47 PM He, He!!
I'm gonna be an as--hole here, but they don't look like any '67 plates I have ever seen!
Sure, I figure they work fine, but I want REAL, thicker/stronger, '67 plates.
(And Kyle and Stacey are great people by me here too).....

RickD Sep 9th, 05, 05:02 AM When I had last spoken with Kyle, those aren't stock replcements.
DOUG G Sep 9th, 05, 06:31 AM I had a steel shop try to fabricate one and it cost $150!
$150 to bend some steel and drill holes ? HOLY COW !
HLSASS Sep 9th, 05, 07:20 PM Farm Boy, these shock plates are different than the photo, they are literally brand new, I may have gotten the first set. I just installed them yesterday, much thicker, and better than the mono leaf plates. I will try to get a photo.
Farm Boy Sep 9th, 05, 09:32 PM Thomas - How do they fit? Do they use multi leaf shocks? What is the part number?
I am sure there are more than a few '67 owners that will be interested in these new shock plates.
:beers:
CFunK Sep 10th, 05, 09:24 AM Yes, me being one of them. Show us the pictures!!!!!!!!!
HLSASS Sep 13th, 05, 11:38 AM I will take some pics this weekend. They really fit nice so far. I am in the process now of trying to find the correct wheel size to fit these. would like to go with same 17x8 size all around or with 17x9.5 rear and 17x8 in front. Thinking 275/40 rear, 5.5" BS and 245/40 5.0 BS front
Silver69Camaro Sep 13th, 05, 02:23 PM The shock plates that DS&E are just common plates used by roundy-rounders, and are 1/4" thick. They buy them for around $11 and sell them to you for $26. You can buy them much cheaper elsewhere. If you have a non staggered shock setup, you get the LH and RH plates. If you have staggard shocks, then get two LH plates. They fit perfect and I used them to construct my own Cal-Tracs.
HLSASS Sep 13th, 05, 09:17 PM Matt, these are not the same plates you are thinking of. These are 5/16" and specifically made for the 67 conversion to multileaf. The ones you are discussing are in fact thinner and available through most parts suppliers. The ones I bought were in fact different.
Silver69Camaro Sep 14th, 05, 07:24 AM Whoops, I was referring to the ones that Farm Boy had mentioned.
Why did they make them 5/16" thick? That unnecessarily large.
John65nova Sep 21st, 05, 01:35 PM Got pics yet? :)
CFunK Sep 28th, 05, 09:11 AM TTT Any pictures?
makoshark Sep 28th, 05, 05:51 PM The plates mentioned in this thread from DSE specifically for 67 camaro`s when converting to multileaf DO NOT FIT without using DSE`s adjustable spring perches. I know this because I have a set of them.
CFunK Sep 28th, 05, 06:31 PM Mako,
Until HLSASS or anyone else comes up with some pics and a PN I am gonna agree with you. The parts in question seem to be vaporware.
HLSASS, post some pics or this thread is dead.
makoshark Sep 28th, 05, 08:07 PM The part number is DS-29 from Rick`s, which is a retailer for DSE now. I would insert a picture, but I`m not seeing where to insert it.
davidpozzi Sep 29th, 05, 09:08 PM Here are the pics from MAKOSHARK.
davidk68 Sep 30th, 05, 01:21 PM Those aren't the ones either. Those are to be used with DSE's spring perches. I also have a set to be used with stock spring perches. I'll take a picture this weekend and try to attach. If not, I'll send to davidp to post.
davidpozzi Sep 30th, 05, 01:38 PM Here is a stock multi-leaf plate.

CFunK Sep 30th, 05, 04:57 PM I am gonna call DSE on Monday and find out what the hell is going on.
pdq67 Sep 30th, 05, 07:38 PM A mono-leaf plate sandwiches the shock bottom and uses a bolt!!

davidk68 Oct 3rd, 05, 09:13 AM I didn't have access to a digital camera this weekend. They are very similar to the photo from davidp. I will do it this evening and send the pictures to davidp.
makoshark Oct 4th, 05, 01:28 PM Anyone found out anything on the 67 plates yet? I haven`t talked with DSE directly, but my parts guy talked to Rick`s and they told him that the 67 plates I got were the only one`s that DSE showed having for 67 camaro`s.
davidpozzi Oct 4th, 05, 03:38 PM Here is a pic from davidk68.
These are the new DSE shock plates.
Quote from davidk68:
"Here are the pictures of the rear shock mount plates from DSE. I measured the thickness with vernier calipers and they are 0.305” thick. The part numbers are 040302R and 040302L. The plates that I have are the same part number because I am going to mount my shocks inboard of the springs and they will be staggered. Can you please post this on the Team Camaro tech section under the 67 shock plate question."
CFunK Oct 5th, 05, 09:59 AM Those are the ones David! The PN's are correct and confirmed with DSE.
They aren't on the website yet as they are such a new part.
Farm Boy Oct 9th, 05, 01:10 PM The shock plates in the picture look like they will fit 68-69 Camaros with multi leaf springs. In other words both plates are the same. You would need an opposite LH plate for a 67.
Edit: I see there are two part numbers for the 67's.:o I wish I had these when I changed my 67 to multi leaf.
clwilcox33 Dec 5th, 05, 07:19 AM So, has anyone ordered and tried these yet?
pdq67 Dec 5th, 05, 05:20 PM Still don't look like '67 sandwich and bolt-through plates to me!!
pdq67
400bird Dec 5th, 05, 07:56 PM so what if the shocks are different, its the thickness of the plate (stock monoleaf) that is the weakness, these are soo much better
Calpantera Dec 11th, 05, 10:31 AM Still don't look like '67 sandwich and bolt-through plates to me!!

You mean like this?
