My 69 restore is about complete. This plain-jane Camaro came with manual 4 wheel drum brakes. I put all new brake parts on each wheel and a new master cylinder and all new brake lines. The car stops straight and true but requires a lot of pedal effort. Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to go to power assist brakes? Is the only thing I need a power brake booster? New master cyd? New proportioning valve? I will eventually put discs on the car but I have spent a fortune already and I need a little breathing room before doing the discs.
Thanks for any help.
Mike

On my brother's 68 Chevy II, we ordered a new booster, with the appropriate master cylinder, and used the rest of the original manual brake system. The brakes perform so good, he has stopped thinking about discs.

There are 2 holes in the brake pedal arm, do you have the clevis and pin in the top hole? It should be in there for the most leverage with non-power assist brakes.
Just a thought in case you over looked this.. :)

I changed out my drums from manual to power. You just need to change the master and booster. The coils of the brake lines will need to be rebent because the master is higher on power setups. I bought all new lines, so that was not an issue. I had to reuse one brake line (rear switch to master) because the nut size were not the same. Also power uses the lower hole on 69s. It is an easy swap and I would reccommend it highly!
