View Full Version : to paint it seafrost or not
VicThrust Sep 13th, 05, 08:04 PM I am now addressing the paint on my 68 396 convertible. The original color was seafrost green. it was repainted british green in 79 or so. My resto has been to this point done as a very code correct resto down to the date codes but the Seafrost is killing me. Will changing the color hurt the end value or should I do the seafrost and live with it?

What's wrong with Seafrost? I see the cars in the thread below and I think it looks fine, especially for the kind of resto you're doing.

Musclerodz Sep 13th, 05, 09:29 PM Of all the greens I like seafrost the best. I wanted to buy a 69 that was seafrost but could not come up with the money at the time.

BonzoHansen Sep 13th, 05, 09:29 PM I love seafrost green. I wouldn't blink at painting my car that color. Especially if "My resto has been to this point done as a very code correct resto down to the date codes". It is a no-brainer to me!

That was too easy, couldn't you put up more of a fight? ;)
Seriously though, it's a nice color that you don't see much of, and particularly on a vert it should look sweet. Just out of curiosity, what are the top and interior colors?
Scott Taylor Sep 14th, 05, 08:52 AM I personally think seafrost is one of the nicest colors GM ever applied to the Camaro. I'm not a big fan of green cars, but the seafrost green is not at all obtrusive, it's almost silver.
VicThrust Sep 14th, 05, 09:50 AM I will do the Seafrost. The top is black and the interior is standard black which leads to my next question. The car came with a 2 complete houndstooth interiors one set for canks the other for power windows. One came out of a car that was totalled at 40k miles and is mint. Should I use this interior or go for a reproduction standard black interior to match the trim tag?
From what I hear the repro stuff is not that good. I am inclined to go with the standard interior for orinignality sake.
Musclerodz Sep 14th, 05, 05:49 PM put the mint original interior back in it.

namz111 Sep 14th, 05, 07:02 PM Dude I love that color!... How many camaros do or will you see that color? Keep it!
bbd564 Sep 14th, 05, 07:54 PM Seafrost green is a great color
VicThrust Sep 14th, 05, 08:23 PM put the mint original interior back in it.

I should clarify - the mint interior is not the original interior. The mint interior is a houndstooth. The original calls for standard black. I would have to go repro for that.
Eric Kammerer Sep 14th, 05, 09:16 PM The PUI covers seem to be pretty decent based on discussions here and from what I have seen. That's how I will go with the 69 if I keep the 69 seats.
With everything you've said about the goals for the car, I say PUI standard black is the way to go. If those OE houndstooth you have are that nice, they should bring some cash from someone restoring a houndstooth equipped 68.
Seafrost with a black interior, black top, and black stripe (if you put the 68 D90 on it) is going to be mighty sweet.

Thanks. I may go with the pui seats. I have an extra set of seats the I could recover and not touch the houndstooth. i am sure the houdstooth interior would be worth something.
