Hey Guys :waving:
Long time reader, first time poster. Just got the ole' 67 on the road for the first time in 10 years, forgot how bad this thing used to wheel hop. What is my best option for makin' it stop other than parking it again? Been looking at the Cal Trac bars and read somewhere that there are some springs out there that eliminate the hop. Would like best option but really prefer to keep it looking stock (no bars). So I'm sure somebody out there can give me some info.

See the "Mono leaf vs Multi Leaf Springs" post below..
To use just springs, I would add a second and a third leaf to each side first. Drive it and see how you like it??
Then if it sits too high or ride's too rough, I would cut the rear half of the second leaf off right behind the mount and run just the front half AND test it again!
If still too stiff, cut the second leaf off the same and test again!!
This is a lot of trouble, but the old MOPAR SS Drag cars used factory rear leaf springs that MOPAR did just this to! What happens is that the front is so stiff, it can't wrap up, but the rear part is soft so the ride doesn't suffer all that much. BUT for our cars, it is a test and drive deal b/c nobody sells Camaro SS drag, "MOPAR" type rear leaf springs.

PS, the only problem is that this is a pain with mono's b/c you have to drill the leave's holes out to fit the mono-leaf's bottom locating "tit" and then create a bottom "tit" so the rearend is still located properly.
JCW's, three-leaf mono replacements makes the addition of extra leaves a lot easier instead of trying to add them to your mono's!! And btw, the three-leafs can use the bottom nut to locate by...

If you happen to have some worn out multi's instead of the mono's some spring clamps worked well for me on the '67. Went from wheel hop right off the get go to '50 black marks.
pdq67 Please explain the clamps if it will apply.

I made my own but this is what worked for me. Keep in mind the springs on my '67 are worn out anyway, not sure how new springs would react. Down side is they will stiffen the ride a little which in my case was good. I think I clamped the top two leafs together, I'll look tonight when I get home.

i would just get the traction bars, unless your not happy with the ride those springs are giving you or they are old and tired
you can also look at CE they have traction bars just like the cal tracs

Correction: Mine are four leaf and I have all four clamped together right at the begining of the bottom/smallest leaf. I'll repeat that this works for me because the springs are worn, they'll be replaced eventually. Just for grins I once put them on the '69 with the Hotchkis. Talk about stiff, whew...

Sorry, I forgot to mention that you will need clamps for doing what I suggest too.

A good set of stiff shocks will help also.. I went to the Koni and set them the firmest position to make rear body plant weight to the springs and not just absorb the initial shock. Also have 5 leaf set up with two #3 leafs stagered and left out very lower short leave. The one thats about 10" long.
