I have an original paper tag from my front coil springs on my 68 RS, the code is YW. When I looked it up in my Classic Ind. book for replacements, it says its for a 67 Z-28. I've since replaced the front springs with some lowering ones, but any idea why I'd have those springs on a non-Z (I could only dream that its actually a Z, but Im pretty certain its not :( )

There should be a part number just below the code, what is it?

Thanks for the quick reply - the part number under the YW is 3928304

I checked my Moog catalog interchange section, but there is no listing for that number, it just skips over it, however numbers before and after are camaro springs.

Thanks for the effort David - I can find the YF in the parts book but not a part number that matches - hmmmmmm - oh well, I'll chalk it up to another mystery about the car.
Thanks again.

Spring codes and numbers are confusing. I found this on Rick's listing:
SS-408 67 FRONT COIL SPRINGS, COUPE, 302, 327, 350 WITH F-41
Technically correct front coil springs made in the USA . These springs are made from the original GM blueprints with correct spring rate, wire diameter and coil count. Sold in pairs. GM#3895233-YW code

I belive those are the springs I need for my 350 wo/ac 67drop ,how was the ride height with the springs you took out? Obveously too high for you but was it a good original height?

blue ss - I actually dont know because the engine was out of the car when I got it, and still hasn't been put back in (just got done rebuilding the engine). Sorry I couldn't really help you on that.

David - I looked in my Rick's catalog and found the springs your talking about, the SS-408's. I saw the little area where they list the spring rates (add 2 pounds for this, 4 for that etc) but didn't see a YW code. Thats still kinda weird, the springs you mentioned, the 408's say its for a 67. So, guess I could just get the 'right' label for the springs even though that wont be the YW 3928304's. Im not doing a total restoration, but like the added, when correct, detail anyway.
