I like the look of the BFG's and have chosen them for my car when it gets back from the paint shop.

I'm looking for the largest configuration combination that will fit the Front and Rear of my 67 without any modifications.

I'm looking for Wheel sizes to mate with those BFG's as well.

Thanks in advance...

IF you have stock rear, 15x8's with 4.5"bs , 275/60/15 is about as big as you can get without rubbing on the wheelwells. I'm not 100% sure for the fronts so I'll stay away from that one.

Hey Doug, What did you do to get those 285's on there? That looks Beefy.

I just put 255/60R/15 on 15x8w/4.5bs on the rear and 235/60/R15 on 15x7 on the front. BF Goodrich Radial T/A. Made a hugh differnce in how the car looked (68). I think the proportion is just right. ;)

Hey Mitch, do you have any pictures of your rear tires. I am also trying to pick new tire sizes.

Cool so based on this sites recommendations and the fact that I am looking for 17" rims, I guess the this formula is the best for me since I am stock on the Front/Rear Ends, Springs, Brakes, etc.

The site also noted that BFG's tend to run slightly larger than the others tested.

17-inch: 17x9 with 5-1/2-inch backspacing front and rear. There may be lower-control-arm contact with some steering gears. Use tires with an aspect ratio of 40 or less and section widths of 245 to 255.

Now I have also heard that you can go as much as 275 in the back. What do you think I need for that. Air Shocks, Lift Kit, or would this fit with minumum passengers in the back seat? I don't plan to have more than 400 pounds in the back and I do plan to upgrade from the mono-leaf suspension to the SS suspension with Traction Bars.

Lastly, I'm trying to figure out about going the same size on all four tires since I can rotate them that way but I was wondering the pro's and con's based on what you guys have seen and experienced.

Again, Pictures tell a thousand words in my mind. :D

Thanks for the info.

All 67's had mono-leaf rear springs. There are many threads for replacing the mono-leaf with multi-leaf springs and good trac bar setups. Caltrac is one.

The 285's are tight !
No mods done on rear or sheet metal.
They do rub on a hard turn or off camber like into driveway.

Now, my biggest question.... Are the wells in the 68 larger than in the 67? They are sweet. Do you need flaps on those babies?

No 67 and 68 are same as far as I can see.

The "mullets" were on the car when I bought it and do help some with sticky tires and stones.

Sorry, mullets to me means an old 70s hair style. What are you talking about? You talking about the Mud Flaps?

These are some 255/50/16 on 16x8 with 4.5" backspacing I think. I ran 245/50/16 on the front with the same wheels. I'm sure you can go with 275's on 17's in the rear. You might be able to squeeze 255's up front but my car handled awesome with these 245's and 255's.

MDSkip, if you go bigger than 15", why only BFG (not that it is a bad choice). I see why on the 15" BFG, for the white lettering. But that are few 16s with RWL, and none bigger, that I have found.

I like the look of them on the Camaro but if you have pictures of other's I'd like to see them too. My car does not get back from the pain/body shop for another month and a half (I am dying here) so I have time to decide if you guys can continue to provide those killer pictures.

I still have my old L-60/14's mounted up on the shelf out in the garage.

They measure a modern 298/53-14!! On 9" Fenton slotted mags with 3.5" b/s.

I had to use coil-overs to raise my rear up about 4" so they wouldn't rub at full droop.

ANDI like the old-school big-n-little look b/c now it has 225/45 and 255/45-17's on it and it has never been this low in the front!!

They would have fit a lot better if they would have had about 4.75" b/s and the lower shock moved in if I remember right??

pdq67

PS., and I ran on my stock 14" x 6" with 3.75" b/s painted wheels, 9.50-14 Mud&Snow tires that were about 29.5" tall fine with my rear raised the same amount. Speedometer went from 70 to 82 mph at 3050 to 3075 rpm's!!

These are 255's on a 15x8 vette ralley wheel. I have had 295's on the same wheel without any rub (although the did stick out just alittle from the side of the car) and I did not use coilovers or air shocks, just a 4 leaf multi leaf spring with the same old pair of Monroe shocks and traction bars.

That got my heart thumping good.

I noticed the chrome you have below your door. When I ordered mine, I got a 1" wide bead kind of chrome that runs all the way down. What type of trim do you have?

295's??? That is huge. Could anyone ride in the back over 100 pounds?

Come on guys/Gals, let's get some more a**-end shots in here. That's the perspective that most people will get with they see me ;).

Maddogskip: I have the RS chrome. My car isn't an RS but i really liked how that chrome compliments the car. I think the entire setup was about 200 bucks from Rick's Camaro.

67SS&99SS: I just ordered this RS chrome for my 67 SS clone (which is not so much of a clone anymore as it is just something I created). Did you order the mounting pattern as well. How did the installation go? What if anything did you do for rust prevention on the drilled mounting holes? I have been searching for someone else that had done this for a while. Looks great. GM should have put those mouldings on every Camaro.

Darin: When I first got my car, it had this trim on it. I had it painted and removed it (big mistake). I didn't buy the template kit because I could tell where my existing holes where and I redrilled them. I would highly recommend buying the template kit. Be patient with this because it can be irratating. When you tighten the self tapping nuts on the trim fasteners inside the door, be sure the chrome is exactly where you want it when you tighen them up because once you loosen them, its hard(nearly impossible) to get it back tight again. I painted the body black under the trim and I think it made it look much better. Good Luck.

Ok Gang, I got my tires installed and ran into a bit of an issue.

I got the P255/60 R15's and the front tires not only hit on the A Frame but they also hit the frame and would severly cut on my brake line clamp. I don't know how you guys got this to work. You must have had something other than stock RS rims. I think I am going to have to drop down to the next size in the front.

Any suggestions?

If you follow my sig URL you can sort of see with the FrontTireRub picture what my challenge is. It's in the Camaro Painted album.

PS. I took these with a camera phone so my paint looks a bit purple. Hmmmm.

Ok, I just wanted to let you guys know what I did to get the front tires to fit without dropping the size yet again.

I had to take my 255/60 R15's front tires back and trade them in for 235/75 R15's which still rubbed the brake bracket but now cleared the A-Frame (whew) ...

To get this to work
All I did was move the brake line bracket on the frame forward 2" and re-welded it back. Now if I make a sharp turn, the front tires will rub the front of the sub frame barely but they will not get shredded by the brake line bracket.

Cheers...
