Are front camaro (1st gen) & chevelle (68-72) springs the same?
Meaning - can they be interchanged?
I know the spring rates will be different, but size, dia.
and fitting them in the frame and lower control arm should work right?

One end will be "square" the other "tangental" the Camaro springs are Tangental on both ends. The diamiters and heights are very close to the same.

Hmmm, I could of swore the Camaro fronts were closed on one end, ground flat, the end fitting up into the frame.

I'll have to tear apart the front to find out...........not!

So that means they cant interchange, because one end is different?

Well, it wouldn't be a perfict fit, but it would probably work. Tangental means the end is squashed down a bit. Square is the end is pushed down more than Tangental, the end of the spring is almost touching the coil next to it.
People cut coils and use them, so maybe you could interchange these but ride height would be tough to guess at.

Any 5" spring will work if it is rated OK and will fit to give you the ride height and load carrying capacity you want.

I think the Second Gen. cars have 5.5" springs if not mistaken and won't fit.

Just try to trim them for ride height wanted by trying to keep the end "clocking" about the same as stock so the ends will locate about the same.

Go to a roundy-round supplier and look in their long list of springs..
