Why keep it private with positive feedback??? Unless, maybe it is the transaction or participants that are being kept out of sight.

I am suspect of anyone that makes their feedback private and will not accept bids from one that has chosen to hide their feedback

I am also suspect of sellers that keep the bidders ID hidden as tghat only tells me that their buddies are bidding and no "real" bidders exist

I LIKE black cars but would NOT buy anything from this seller only because of his hidden feedback and hidden bidder offering

How will the VIN be in the database? It is not listed in the auction.

Hopefully a picture will be kept by whomever is keeping pics of all the questionable tags.

I am not so sure it is a fake. My car is 08A 10 10 X77D80. This VIN is about 4,000 higher than mine and the BDY number is 5833 higher than mine, so the correlation is correct for a car built 3 weeks after mine.

I have compared pics side by side, and if it is a fake, it is the best one I have ever seen. My gut feeling is it is a real tag.

Regardless of whether it is real or fake, it is a worthless POS to me once it is separated from the body. Like I said, hopefully it is logged by BDY number and when it shows up on that really expensive "number matching all original" Z/28 we will all know.

Whoever has tracked all his auction shenanigans with shill bidders should make a report to ebay. They won't bust a guy for selling an obvious fake car, tag, restamped engine etc. but they will bust them for using shill bids.

Kinda funny someone goes through all that trouble on a fake tag anyway. Guess he'll fool somebody.

I keep track of the pics and info in my data base. The tag has the right body number as others in the August 69 build period. Yes, the tag is fake. I have about 35 fake tags in my pics so far and about 300 real tags.

I don't enter the loose tags in the db anymore.
Too much time and there are too many of them. But I save the tag pics.

Another TC member (or two) was logging them, not sure if anyone still is.

That is because your car is 12A, first week of December in 1968. This car is 08D, or fourth week of August 1969. They reset the BDY number in the first week of August 1969. My BDY number is 100381. I believe the BDY number was reset to 100001, meaning mine would be the 381st body built after the reset. Kurt has confirmed that they have lower numbers than mine on file after the reset.

Again, not like it matters, but I am still not convinced it is a fake tag. Anyone want to PM me on why it is fake? I can email you a pic of mine, and it is pretty close, although mine hasn't been beat up like this one.
