You guys are so smart! Thanks for all your help. So I'll keep asking questions about my car until it's finally perfect! :p
About a month ago, my CD player just up and quit working. It gives me "ERR" and spits out the cd. Tried many different cd's, but won't play at all.
I consulted the owner's manual and it said this error could be due to hot or humid weather and to "try again later". It has been very hot and humid, but the weather is cooler now and it still doesn't work.
Any thoughts on how to get it working again? Could it be a fuse?
Thanks,
Kerry

All it gives you is ERR? No E then a code?
Are they production (music store) CD's or home-burned ones?

I saw in the owner's manual where there are different codes, but mine only showed "ERR". (That's kind of how my luck goes!)
I tried both kinds of cd's, but none worked. I've had this car for about 5 months. The cd player worked fine for about the first 4.

Sounds like a CD reader error ... Since you have tried many CD's, we can assume the problem is in the player. It may be a dirt/dust issue. You may be able to try some canned compressed air, like people use for photo equipment . Also, there are some aerosol type electronic cleaners that will evaporate very quickly, supposedly leaving no residue. These use a small "straw" to direct the spray, like you get with WD40 or some carb cleaners ... I would only try the aerosol if I have concluded that my next step is to replace the unit. The stock units have been questioned and debated ... Some audio/stereo shops also sell CD cleaners... For example, Crutchfield carries one by Maxell ... Any "fix" is a small gamble...sometimes they work, some times they don't. A nice Alpine or Pioneer unit is very reasonably priced, so don't spend a lot of money trying to fix the stock unit unless you just desire your car to be totally stock .

Had a similar problem with a Sony once that I got from Crutchfield. They told me to disconnect all power to the unit and let it sit for a minute then reconnect power. That fixed it. Go figure.

I had problems with my 97 camaro head unit when I would try to use the factory disc changer....end of the story....I took out the factory equipment and put in an Alpine head unit and am much happier!!!!
