My brother works at the local Advance Auto and a customer walks and starts bsing about his cars, I know this guy does have a few f-bodys, 69z28 a 68 firebird 455 or 400 not sure. Anyways he claims he's got a Copo convertible?
I'm no camaro guru but i've never heard of one. This guy seems like the type that has the money to buy any car he wants, I was just thinking maybe he's one of those suckers buying all those fake trim tag cars off of Ebay!

Non found todate but I do have to say that in the Motion Ads it does say you could order a Vert from them. Not sure if any were made by Joel though.

The 1968 Z28 convertible was a COPO. Only 1 was build for a GM Exec.

Yes the 68 Z Convrt was a COPO type order, 1 of 1 and it was bid to just over 1 mil from what I was told but did not sell again from what i have heard. Only reason I didnt include it in my first reply was that the owner then was from Mich and the poster shows Fla

I think he is asking 2M for it! All the documentation was stolen awhile back and still has not been recovered..........

If I owned that car, the docs would NEVER leave my tight locked 10" thick safe! Who the heck would even put that super rare paperwork in a situation to get stolen?

I am sure he is not the guy who owns the Z vert. I am sure that guy does not work on his own car! Some blowhard blowing his hot air!

From what I understand he was at car show or auction and just left the documentation in a brief case in the back seat of the car! When he returned it was gone! Not very smart!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better yet, why would you bother stealing the paperwork?? What good does it do the thief??

Personally, I wouldn't classify that 68 Z28 convertible as a COPO but more a one-off. You could check a few boxes if you had the right credentials and get a COPO car, this was truely a one of a kind build.

I believe Al Maynard still owns this car. Hardly the guy who doesn't work on his own vehicles

AUBURN, Ind. -- A one-of-a-kind Z-28 Camaro convertible built for a former General Motors Corp. executive is missing its keys, title and original bill of sale -- all of them stolen during a classic car auction.

Bids fell short for the convertible, which was created for Elliott Estes, former general manager of GM’s Chevrolet division. It was expected to bring $1 million to $2 million at the Kruse International Auction Park.

A briefcase with the papers and owner Kathy Maynard’s purse were left in her Suburban for a few moments Thursday evening. Both are now missing.

“That was all the information in the world,” Maynard said. “We’re sick.”

She said she figures someone took the bags for cash without realizing what they contained and hopes that the thief dumped the paperwork on the Kruse grounds.

Auctioneer Dean Kruse has promised a substantial reward for the bags’ return.

Although Maynard’s husband, Al Maynard, has copies of the documentation, he agrees that the originals enhance the car.

The dark green muscle car is the only Z-28 Camaro convertible in the world and was built on a central office production order. Estes had it outfitted with racing parts.

“It’s probably the best Camaro in the world, as far as desirability,” Kruse said.

I would have had that paperwork duct taped to my body.

I would leave the originals in the safe and carry the copies.

I wouldnt recommend putting duct tape on your documents or your body! In the end, you probably would get stolen because they couldnt get them off of you! Phil

I have copies of the paperwork for the '68 Z/28 convert including the shippers' copy of the WS and there is no COPO # on any of it.

Looks just like any other '68 Z/28 ws.

If I remember correctly, this 68 z28 vert was in a sweepstakes give away contest. They had it as a center fold- fold out in the middle of an auto magazine. I remember my little nephew took the centerfold out & took it to school about 10 years ago. I didn't even enter the sweepstakes for the car because of laziness & procrastination. Am I remembering right? Does anyone else remember this car being first prize in some car magazine about or around 10 years ago? I just really remember being amazed because I had never heard of a REAL FACTORY Z28 CONVERTIBLE!!!

I do not remember this car being given away but I have heard that Al Maynard has owned this car for more than 10 years.
