View Full Version : anybody notice this... automanZ Sep 21st, 05, 06:50 PM Has anybody noticed there seems to be less pictures of trim tags in car auctions lately? RS3SDL2MG Sep 21st, 05, 07:10 PM ? what auctions are you looking at ? all the camaro auctions are for cars with pics of fake trim tags , fake trin tags with pics , heck one guy even has a whole 1969 camaro cowl section (WITH PIC OF TRIM TAG) for sale on ebay , and of course it's a Z/28 , automanZ Sep 21st, 05, 07:25 PM here's a few lots of great pictures, but I want to see a trim tag when I look at these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Camaro-RS-Z28-TRUE-ROTISSERIE-RESTORED-NUMBERS-MATCHING-1969-Z28_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6161QQitemZ45764301 74QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Camaro-1969-Chevrolet-Camaro-Z28-4-spd_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6161QQitemZ45769161 95QQrdZ1 BLADE4444 Sep 21st, 05, 09:01 PM And notice that both cars have the notorious Ford fan sticker. automanZ Sep 21st, 05, 10:07 PM Excellent point! I wonder how that got started. I've seen a few 69's in Camaro books that have the sticker. I wonder if people saw that and took it as gospel? bilodeaulynn Sep 22nd, 05, 07:53 PM Sure not buying the October heads on a March build motor. Also, don't know if he is trying to pass off the 116 intake as original (am guessing he is by the casting date listed) but that is an over the counter replacement for 67 through 70 Z intakes. No one has documented a 116 as having come on a factory installed engine. I have a beautiful 116 intake that I bought from GM in 1976. I am sure there are lots of other things to nit pick, like the "hugger orange" paint. That is the reddest hugger orange I have ever seen. Given the description, I would sure like an expert to check out the "rare" build sheet. Lynn RamAirDave Sep 22nd, 05, 10:44 PM I absolutely LOVE the caution fan sticker. Especially on "perfect, factory, rotisserie restoration" cars  . Doing an engine compartment on a Ford now (not mine, dont worry), but just had to go ahead and order an extra "caution fan" sticker for ourselves. Theres gotta be a good joke use for it. Have a couple ideas. Any suggestions out there? Plus, the stickers were actually on backorder at the time I ordered them. Must be more "perfect" Zs on the way  dave 1FASTZ Sep 23rd, 05, 10:38 AM I absolutely LOVE the caution fan sticker. Especially on "perfect, factory, rotisserie restoration" cars  . I have the heat gun and scraper standing by :) Really I do have one for ya. mccorry Sep 23rd, 05, 04:54 PM here's a few lots of great pictures, but I want to see a trim tag when I look at these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Camaro-RS-Z28-TRUE-ROTISSERIE-RESTORED-NUMBERS-MATCHING-1969-Z28_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6161QQitemZ45764301 74QQrdZ1 That one has a legit tag... saw it in 2001..... bilodeaulynn Sep 23rd, 05, 08:42 PM Don't know what difference the tag would make as it is an LA car. No X code. Lynn 69Camarozz396 Sep 26th, 05, 01:15 AM here's a few lots of great pictures, but I want to see a trim tag when I look at these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Camaro-RS-Z28-TRUE-ROTISSERIE-RESTORED-NUMBERS-MATCHING-1969-Z28_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6161QQitemZ45764301 74QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Camaro-1969-Chevrolet-Camaro-Z28-4-spd_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6161QQitemZ45769161 95QQrdZ1 As far as the first link, that guy has sold some beautiful and desirable cars. I have seen some of his cars over the past 2 years. Check out some of his other cars. 2 1/2 years of feedback and all of it is positive. Looks like all he deals in is the big dollar mint car. This salesman might be legit and cares about his repetation or his hobby is selling the cars that everyone wants(That was my dream!). He lists the numbers and sounds like it could be an authentic Z. Just needs a visual inspection. Color is wrong but is stated like any good salesman would. With it being a Van Nuys car why would you bring fake docs to the table? Documents are a definite plus but I have seen a lot of Van Nuys cars getting the nod with the numbers given. To me, It looks like this guy is not waving his magic wand and turning chicken into steak. Every time I see one of his cars, I have to say WOW. The car itself isn't that bad looking, but the exhaust looks like a monkey crapped on his hand and smeared it all over the exhaust pipes. JHunter Sep 26th, 05, 03:15 PM ...but the exhaust looks like a monkey crapped on his hand and smeared it all over the exhaust pipes. Thats got to be one of the funniest quotes I've heard in a while lol! That rocks! |
