I've been looking around and found one place has them listed. But I thought Classic Industries carried them also. I went back to see how much they are and can't find them listed any longer..
Also I’ve read they may not be appropriate for convertibles as they use a thinner metal, any truth to that?

The ones I have been buying are thick. Definately OK for a convertible. I sent you a PM.

Thanks guys!

I'll be needing these in a few weeks. I hate it when i find something and don't add it to my favorites!

I saw the rails at the GM Carlisle meet in June, went home searched for them on the web. I found them but never saved the link. I should have bought them at Carlisle, I could have saved on shipping ,but its kinda hard to take something like that on a plane.
I need to sell my vette before I can spend more money on my bird..

I finally stumbled across the vendor that carries the full frame rails, the only bad thing is they do not take credit cards (or at least they didnt use to) it scares me to send a check or money order to anyone now-a-days so i have never ordered from them.
They do seem to have better pricing on most parts though

Thanks TA29, I ran across that vendor,
I called him he said his prices on web were not right and the new price is $225.00 and the website will be updated on Monday (It’s still at 150/each today) if I remember correctly plus shipping of $55.00. But since I had caught them before the website got updated on Monday I could order them for $179.00 per side and $55.00 shipping .. So I kept looking, I saw them for a reasonable price somewhere.

But I did find another site with good prices for the frame rails and ordered them today from http://www.chevroletrestorationworld.com 169.00/side and real cost shipping! I saw the rails on ebay and enquired about whether he had them in stock to ship. He affirmed he did have them in stock and would take a credit card. He claimed to have shipped them today as I ordered at around 7:30 Am. I’ll let you guys know how it goes. They seem to have pretty good prices on website for many other items that I need for my bird. If all goes well I’ll be placing another order soon.

On a side note,I also don’t like sending checks and will only pay with credit cards from now on. Just a few weeks ago got burned for $410.00 for a pair of axles for my corvette from a company in Florida. No parts or money and its been 8 weeks!! I found out after placing the order that the guy is a complete scam artist! He’s had 29 different businesses in as many years. But that’s a different story…If anybody wants the website and guys name Pm me…

I know ,I know a fool and his money!!! But I was desperate and needed the axles ASAP!!! Never again!

The people at Chevrolet Restoration World are great to deal with. I checked out the new rails in person a couple weeks ago. They seem like quality pieces.

CRW also has one of the new 69 shells on display ion the front window, that was pretty cool to see!

I need the brackets at the rear of the frame rails that attach to your rear inner tail panel. It is mounted around the shackle holes. I ordered a set of frame rails from classic but they do not have that piece on them. I don't see how you would attach them to your tail panel without them.

Sorry , I remember now. When they arrive I'll post whether or not they are on the rails. If I remember correctly the rails are totaly complete from end to end no frabrcation involved.
Can you "make " the needed peices? I have some steel left over from the rails I purchased a while ago. I'd be more than happy to send you enough to make the ends, for just the cost of shipping..

Bob ,
I followed your lead and ordered me a set from chevy restoration world. I got mine today. They are complete. I now have the set that I bought from classic industries that I'll try to sell on E-Bay.

Classic needs to be a little more clear on these frame rails and make sure people don't get a part where you have to fabricate pieces to make it work.

I was amazed at how fast I got my order from chevy restoration, but I'm really not that far away from them. Thanks for your help.

Yup, Mine came in today !
but alas im disappointed again...
The frame rails arc is different than the complete trunk pan at the point where it turns down towards the floor pan /trunk pan seam. i probably have about a 1/4 inch gap to deal with.
Now this is way too much to make fit. both pieces are way to rigid to fudge into fitting.
My plan is dill holes and run very large strong bolts between them and tighten down as best possible to minimize gap and weld.

Anybody else run in to this?

cruisemaster ?? any suggestions...

Are using the complete one piece trunk pan ? I'm planning on using it. You are starting to scare me . If yours has a gap I bet mine will too. I just got the old frame rail out tonight. someone had made subframe connectors that I had to cut off. I couldn't get the front spring bracket bolts out because of them. No room for the bolts to come out. I'll be glad when I get past the rails and trunk. :D :D

together and PCI,

I am very interested in replacing my frame rails to. If you guys wouldn't mind documenting the your process with some photos and notes I (and I'm sure others) would really appreciate it for future reference. Good luck with the project. I will be interested to follow your progress.

I'll spend some time this week updating my website with photos. I'm sure (atleast I hope) the gap can be dealt with. I don't have much time this weekend to work on the bird, winter is coming and I have much to do yard wise.

Maybe cruisemaster or someone else who has don this can chime in? Maybe a new thread ,as this thread is already off subject.
