The pictures hide alot of....miles...the car actually does look alot worse in person..

http://www.sdkcg.com/carpix/68Camaro/page.php?txtpage=041504.php

I purchased this car about a year and a half ago.
This is my first project car. Now that the warm weather is finally here (I think), I can start ripping into this thing.

My goal is to maintain a stock look inside and out, but upgrade the suspension and drivetrain.

Rust...yeah...I got that... :(
floors, driver's door, rear quarter

My first pass is to get the car to a more reliable/drivable state. The 4 wheel drum brakes work sometimes.
I have an SSBC front disk conversion kit on deck (for the last year), as well as a front end rebuild kit. Id like to do a rear disk setup in the future...

Once that is done, I need to get it to my chassis guy for some much needed floor welding and subframe connectors.

From there, wiring harness, body work, etc...etc...

I purchased a steel ZL2 hood from Tamaraz, Moroso taillight bezels, and miscellaneous interior pieces.
The interior is ...well, pretty bad..
New carpeting, front seats (the lowback buckets are soooo gone), assorted dashboard pieces (I have most of them). door panels...
The headliner and rear seat are in decent shape..

Other exterior pieces I'd like to get include:
RS equipment, front and rear spoilers..
New brightwork, new paint (prob black to match the 02 SS)

As far as power, every day I have a different plan.
Originally, I wanted to do a ZZ502  , but alot of guys are doing LS1 conversions (which is very appealing).
A small block solution may be better for a tighter budget.
I have some time to think about this...

Anyway, hopefully I will be posting some progress pics soon
Thanks again for all the help thus far.....this board is very helpful! graemlins/beers.gif

graemlins/thumbsup.gif Nice looking ride -- to both of them!!

I see the ever faithful drvr front fender rust spot just ahead of the wheel and above the fender extension next to the side marker. I've seen several, more than I can count on two hands, fenders with this rust. Pass side doesn't rust, why does the drvr side rust?

I see it has been painted at one time, the fender emblems, Camaro (front), and trunk emblem, Camaro by Chevrolet (rear), have been removed.

Have you thought of roof rail molding to go with the door sill molding?

ha - not sure why one side would w/o the other.
I do have a fair amount overall. I will prob replace the drivers door and the floors...a lot of daylight coming thru...

Car used to be red at one point

Drip rail mouldings..yeah...they are on the (very long :( ) list.
I will probably replace all the moulding on the car, plus add the rocker panel and wheel arch RS moulding. The bumpers are pretty pitted up.

I threw a coat of Megurires cleaner wax on her today...better, surprisingly so

Your 68 is bad-a**!!

I think the drivers side always rusts more and faster due to the cars passing in the other direction splash more crap up onto and into the cracks and crevices then what the pass side gets on the curb/shoulder side of the road. IMHO

I think your color is grotto blue like mine? Take look, they look close. Joes Grotto Blue 68 (http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/cruiser_ss396@sbcglobal.net/album?.dir=d02e&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos)

Just noticed you have a 67 console in her. Mine is blue with a blue interior and console. You have black, that easy to get parts for.

My advice FWIW. Go with the LS1... and save that deck lid. Buy a used one that's already been drilled and save you'rs if it not totally rusted out. Undrilled ones are getting harder to find and are easily $400.00 to 500.00
