View Full Version : busy day in san francisco.
angelglo Sep 25th, 05, 05:40 PM ok,
it saturday(09/24/05) and you dont know what to do? go to san francisco. we had about a half a dozen hugh events yestereday. some of the events were the anti war demo, the love parade and the folsom street fair. as a specialist, i got deployed because of the group called black bloc.(you can look them un on the internet). they were responsible for one of our officers getting seriously injured. i believe i wrote something about it in a previous post a while back. the other party is called the love parade. this was hugh and went until 4am. then the folsom street fair. the funny part about these parties are that they kind of clash in life styles. the anti war demo and the love party both crossed paths going down the street on their march. one group gives us the finger and throws projectiles at us while the other gives us hugs and kisses. it got confusing. luckily black bloc did not cause a disturbance. the feeling was that since they seriously injured one of our officers, they did not want to do anything to give us a chance to seriously injure one of them. while all this was going on, you can walk down to the folsom street fair and buy a beer on the street right next to an almost naked guy dressed in chaps holding a leash that is attached to a dog collar that is around the neck of a guy who is completely dressed in leather from head to toe. a perfect example of how this guy looks is the gimp from the movie pulp fiction(great movie). when the day is over, you wait in traffic for about 3 hours to get to oakland that is just 2 miles away because the are doing constructin on the bridge. by the way, if you are in the s.f. area, the bridge will be completely shut down on 10/03-10/04.
ive lived in s.f. most of my life until recently and i think its pretty cool that s.f. can have all these event for all types of people. it went very smoothly yesterday. this is how things should go with out idiots killing each other, which ended up happening again last night in one of our projects.
another note, i went by my friends club here in s.f while we were working. it was a very busy night for them. i asked him how many paople he had in his club and he said about 3000. he was charging 60 per person and 100 for vip. that equal a lot of $. he said the reason is because they paid some guy named paul van dyke $85,000.00, who was from europe, just to d.j. for 3 hours. maybe i should get out all my old records and start playing music for people.

b-boy Sep 25th, 05, 05:47 PM For those reasons, and because of those type of people, I stay out of San Francisco. In my opinion, it's one of the dirtiest, nastiest, dispicable cities on the face of the earth. Last time I went (8 months ago) walked down the shopping areas adjescent to the wharf, and stepped on a USED tampon lying on the sidewalk, about 50 feet farther up a dead RAT was lying on the sidewalk, and the smell of sewer was horrible, as the sewers were evidently backed up. That, along with the whacko street person who hides behind bushes and jumps out and scares people (I had my visiting daughter and her girlfriend with me), what does he do after he jumps out in front of us? Jams his finger 3 inches up his nose, twists it back and forth, and pulls it out and offers it to the girls. Yes, quite a lovely place, indeed. Never again.
angelglo Sep 25th, 05, 06:30 PM the city is not for everyone but people do love it.

zuma Sep 25th, 05, 06:51 PM Angel, I, like you am a native San Francisan, I also work there as well. (I also have moved out to raise my family , raising a family in the city is too costly). Althou b-boy brought up some good reasons not to got to the city and is entilited to his opnion, I think there are many who would disagree. San Francisco has its problems, like many other large cities, but there are many places that are still beautiful and great to visit, Golden Gate bridge, Coit Tower, Cliff House, China Town, Twin Peaks, SBC park...etc. Still to this day if I want a first class meal after 10pm, I head into the city. I have visited other cities around the country and they have their good areas and bad as well. There must be a reason San Francisco is the most visited and expensive to live city in the USA,.. Angel I am sure you will agree, that even with all its problems San Fran is still a great town! :) IMO
ssdanny69 Sep 25th, 05, 08:46 PM Busy day no doubt! 49ers whopped by the Cowboys!http://www.camaros.net/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif
novaderrik Sep 25th, 05, 09:05 PM i don't like any big city. i prefer to be where i can see the sky after dark and actually hear myself thinkk..
but, hey, to each his own..
camaroman7d Sep 25th, 05, 11:35 PM I grew up accross the bridge from S.F., I used to hang out over there (cruise, etc..). Personally it is not for me and I don't care if I ever see it again. With that said, MOST people love San Francisco. I have taken friends from out of town there and they love it. I am in the minority when I tell people I don't like the city. I have been to a lot of large cities and I don't like any of them (Cleveland, Washington D.C., Seattle, Portland, Oakland, Dallas, Chicago, Denver, Southern Calif.,etc...) I think Denver was probably the nicest of them all (IMO). I think it has more to do with your personality than which city it is. All large cities have problems (no exceptions). I am with Derrik on this one I just don't like big cities, I also don't like crowds. S.F. is no worse than any other big city and if I didn't go over there so much (for work and play) I might even like it.
Joekool1234567 Sep 26th, 05, 01:44 AM San Fransico isnt that bad, Ive been to LA, Chicago, Cinncinaty(SP), Pheniox and a few others. They all have there problems, Chicago was windy and dirty, Cinncinaty was full of run down neighborhoods and LA has so much smog you cant breath and so much traffic it takes atleast 1 1/2 hours to go anywhere anytime. Of them all Pheniox was the nicest and SF has the most stuff to see and do.
ChevyThunder Sep 26th, 05, 10:06 AM My cus plays in Billy Idol's band. They were suposed to play at the park this weekend as part of a big concert put on by a local radio sation Alice 97...Billy cancelled at the last min. and I cannot tell you how happy I was not to have to kart a bounch of kid up there were no parking is available...it was a beautiful weekend and there is nothing like SF on a sunny day...but then again I don't like going anywhere when traffic is an issue...Angel , what club does your friend own? I owned a club in the City once upon a time..it is still rolling for over 20 years now ...it's not one of Brit's is it ?
Codi Sep 26th, 05, 10:08 AM Hell b-boy, at least he offered to share. S.F. does have a large collection of odd people. Just a magnet I guess. All in all, during a visit, I like the city and what I saw. You could try a visit to beautiful downtown Dayton Ohio. All the pharmacuticals you could ask for at 3rd and main, right on the main bus route. Entertainment abounds at the courthouse square. Those who visited 3rd and main now think they can sing and dance. Not enough? Surf the Great Miami River. Just watch out for the low dam.
angelglo Sep 26th, 05, 01:14 PM van, no, its not brits club. it was ira's at 1015 folsom. thats funny, i know brit. i actually went by his club at 3rd and harrison. i still know bouncers there. i tried going up to his place at the sound factory but that was one of the entrances to the bridge and it was backed up all night. ps, btw, i dont club anymore. i was just going by to check the clubs for problems since i know them

djunod Sep 26th, 05, 01:58 PM My younger son is moving to SF with his girlfriend in January. She will be going to art school there... He'll be inking people... They both love it there. He loves big cities... he now lives in downtown Augusta (Old Town), which is way too small for him.
angelglo Sep 26th, 05, 02:33 PM is he going to go to the academy of arts college here? its a great school and has alot of facilities. i went there in 85 when it was just a little seedling. i was kinda of shocked because our very first day, they had us draw a naked lady. it was kinda hard to focus and that is when i thought it wasnt for me because i wasnt there for the art(plus i was horrible). anyway, if there is anything i can do for you or your son, let me know

djunod Sep 26th, 05, 03:36 PM He's already a professional artist... a tattoo artist, an apprentice for 1 year and now active for 1 year (he was a professional welder for a 1 year before that, with 1 year of school before that). I setup a quickie web site showing his work last night... http://www.junod.net/rob/
His girlfriend will be going to the Academy of Arts.
They are both eclectic, but friendly people... in fact Rob is a very social person, unlike me... don't know where he got that from...
ChevyThunder Sep 26th, 05, 11:33 PM Angel ,
I opened 3rd and Harrison with Brit.. it was called City Lights at first then we changed it to City Nights...that was many mooons ago ..and it is still there 22 years later :) !

Go69 Sep 27th, 05, 12:30 PM Paul Van Dyk is A*W*E*S*O*M*E! I wish I would have been able to see that show. For those of you who aren't familiar with electronic/Dance music, he is one of the best on the planet. 2nd only to DJ Tiesto. $60 a ticket? Is that all? I would have paid twice that amount to see him play again live. He was supposed to have been here this past weekend (in Houston on Sunday night) but could not due to the hurricane (that never happened).
ChevyThunder Sep 27th, 05, 06:00 PM I got Trace the job as a doorman at the club (it was Echo Beach and before that it was a indoor Winnebego dealership:) .. that turned into the gig at KMEL through Billy Vidol and Rick Chase.....I hear from Trace everyday (his old friends like me call him Tracy , because that's his name) ..still trying to get him to grow up....by the way , Trace's family ownes a winnery .. they have some nice grapes and Trace has his own label .. I have to hand it to him.. the Pinot Noir is incredible http://www.bacarvineyards.com/about/index.cfm
Your welcome...we gave away a lot of free drinks back then !
