I was flipping through my Classic Industries catalog recently. Getting ready to order some parts. And I noticed that they offered throttle linkages and cables. Which Camaro's came with cables? Is there any benefit of having cable instead of rod linkage? I've got some throttle linkage issues right now on my car. I switched from a Rochester to a Holley 600cfm 4160. The gas pedal is too close to the floor, and my throttle is getting stuck open slightly. Any help is appreciated! Thanx!

all V8 Camaros up thru the 69 model year had the linkage.
but if you are gonna spend some $$$ on new stuff ,head to the boneyard and get a gas pedal and throttle bracket ($5 maybe) out of a 70-74 Nova, and get a new cable for it. the pedal bolts right in, and you just need to drill a hole in the firewall for the cable.

It's been a while since I've had one, but I think the first gen 6 cyl cars had a cable also.
Anyone confirm or deny?

Lokar makes a really nice cable setup, but it is expensive.

I bet there are 6 old Novas for every one Camaro in bone yards just about everywhere. The Oldsmobile Omega and Pontiac Venture are similar. 1st Gen Camaros with 6 cyl. engines had cables.

Cables are nice because you don't have to worry about a broken motor mount sticking the throttle wide open. But they are more difficult to install. Lokar is probably the best after market setup you'll find. Not sure if a 6 cyl. factory cable setup will work or not - probably not.

what's so hard about installing a cable? if you can change oil or brake pads, you can put a cable setup in a 69 Camaro using bolt in parts and a 1/2" drill bit. i think the conversion on my cousin's 66 Chevelle took all of 20 minutes.

Both 6-cyl and cross ram equipped cars came with the cable linkage. I made the swap on my 67 when I converted to EFI. Easy to do and looks original if you want to avoid the billet lokar piece.

I bought mine (used) from Ricks for about 75 a couple of years ago.

Good luck
