Can not figure out how the center rear bumper bracket (part of Mounting kit) mounts, the kit came with 2 long and 8 short stove bolts, but the holes in the bumper (middle) are round. After bolting the 4 smaller brackets to bumber stil have two long and two short stovebolts left over along with the long center bracket. My 69 camaro did not have this center bracket (may have been taken off previous to my ownership. Any suggestions where I can get some guidence?

GM used rivets to hold the center bracket on at the bottom of the bumper(two round holes). If you bought a bumper bolt kit you should have enough bolts to do the front and rear bumbers, ie you will have two long bolts and two short bolts left over. In place of the rivets you could use a regular bolt or I used a stove type bolt that has an allen head on it. Hope that answers your question.

Rambling69,

I just rechromed my original bumpers and ordered new bumper brackets, until I can get my originals sand blasted. It's vital to ensure that you have that rear center bracket installed, since it houses your license plate light and the fact that two of the bolts that go through the tailpan fasten to the middle bracket. Rick's First Gen sells the rivets, but be forewarned that you'll need to heat them up somehow and find a way to compress them into place. It's in a tight spot to get a hammer to them. I used some shiny 5/8" bolts (I believe they are 5/8's but don't take my exact word) that I got from Home Depot. I'm not thrilled with the end result, but it'll do until I can research a better solution.

Also, be careful when trying to line up the brackets at each end. You may have to bend and massage these brackets to get them to meet up to the rear bumper properly. Right now, mine are so far off, I'm just holding the rear bumper via the bolts through the tailpan and after I get the originals sand blasted, I'll probably just reuse those and keep the 3 rear tailpan brackets.

As far as the two longer bolts, I thought they were used on the ends, but I had to hacksaw mine down because they were actually hitting the body.

Getting the Bracket Kit from Rick's and the bolt kit from Rick's is a smart way to go. Makes things alot easier and then you'll just have to decide how you want to handle the rivets. Like I said, might be easier to figure out your own fastener solution instead of figuring out how to get those rivets back in place.
