Hey,
This is a great forum!! I have been looking for a site to post some questions about my Camaro on for a while, and just found this yesterday. I have a 69 RS Camaro Convertible. My top is white, and I seem to get some minor pinching of the vinyl on the sides of the top between the "B" pillar and where it wraps around to the back window when the top goes down (power top). Someone told me that I need some bump stops installed on the top frame so it does not pinch down as tight. I got the bump stops, but don't have any pics or descriptions as to where they go on the top frame. Anyone have any advice or pics they can send my way?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

First off - WELCOME to Team Camaro :hurray:

We would have to agree - it's the best forum for 1st Gen.s on the net.

As to your question - I'm not exactly sure where the 'bumper' goes - but, if I remember right there is some sort of stopper/bumper/rubber thingy right at the hinge joint at the main rear top frame on each side.
There are also several hinge adjusting screws at these joints.
It's been years since I had my top replaced and had to adjust it. But, I remember it took a combination of adjustments to the main rear hinge ("Male hinge"), the side Frames and Hinge screws to get the frame square to the body, the Header to fit-up and folded ("Stack" according to Fisher folks) height correct.

Hopefully someone that has more experience and has done this adjustment recently will chime-in and set me straight.

Thanks for the response, thats what I was wondering. I'll have to take a close look in that area tonight, but I didn't see any bump stop remnants/holes in that area in my past searches. Anyone have any pics of their top frame with these bump stops in place?

Thanks,
Andy

:o Finally dragged my lazy arse over to the corner of the shop this morning and took a look at the bumpers - when it finally dawned on me where I'd put them...
They are on the rear main top rail below the hinge joint. They are @8~10" down from the hinge joint on the rear area of the rail, behind the curve shape so you really can't see them unless you feel for them or look way back around the corner. If you look straight up above the main rail pivot point you'll see them - or, where they go...
They are mounted with a single phillips screw on a small bracket attached to the rail.
If they are damaged or were missing they would allow the top to travel farther down than normal and this could be your problem. Easy enough to check though.

Sorry it took so long to get back with a difinitive answer :o
The misses has kept me busy adding a 'Garden Window' to her kitchen this weekend...

Great!! Thanks for your help John. I am in CA right now on business, but I'll check it out this weekend when I get back home (Pa).

Thanks again,
