Hi All- Now that Ive been reading these posts here I’m really confused and I’m wondering if the engine in my 68 RS is not the original. Will someone set me straight please? Hears the scoop:
The cowl tag is 11D for the 4th week of Nov.
Block assembly stamp is VII02EE Flint Nov 2nd 327/275hp
Engine stamp is 18N349458 which matches the VIN.
Casting is 3914678 which seems to be correct for 68
Casting date taken from the Right (passenger) side of the back of the engine is J 31 7 in raised letters (backwards). It also has an “S” or “8” above that in a separate mark. Now if I decipher that the block was cast Oct 31 of 67??????? Something is not right here.
Manifolld casting is 3818808 (best I could read it)

Sounds okay to me. 11D would be Nov. 67 build for 68 Model Year.

Oh, and the intake number doesn't match any I have. I see a 3905393 as "correct" for that app. Don't show any with "381", or any combination that looks close to what you posted.

Your block was cast on October 31st, 1967 and assembled on November 2nd, 1967. This is just fine, especially for a Norwood car. Sometimes they were cast and assembled only a few days apart... Probably still hot from the forge!

Your Intake is probably 3919803 which is correct for a 1968 327/275 engine.

Everything looks good.

Ed B is correct on the manifold number 3919803.
The "803" 1968 manifold was only slightly different from the "393" 1967 the biggest of which is due to the relocation of the Temp. Sender from the Intake to the Left Side Head.

All the casting and final assembly dates look normal. :thumbsup:
