I just picked up my first serious project car and I am trying to find out a little more about the car. I got 69 SS350 (3rd owner) in great shape overall. It has a minor ding on driver front fender and a touch of bondo behind tire on the rear quarter. Other than that the body is perfect except for the cheap maaco paint job they put on it. I got if for $6000, so I am pretty sure I got a smoking deal. Everything appears to be numbers matching (rear end, tranny) except the engine. Then engine came back as a 68 camaro 327.
Can anyone tell me if my vin decode is correct?

VIN# 124379N585967
ST69 - 12437 - NOR 242247 BDY (69 coupe 8cyl / Norwood plant)
TR 718 5252 PNT (Standard red interior / Garnet Red ext)
01C X55 (Jan build, 3rd week / Base Model Z27 SS350)

It has a 4spd muncie (M20) with console. I have yet to find a build sheet, so I can't prove those are correct. Obviously the engine isn't the original. Also not sure which rims were original, rally's or SS. So basically I am just looking for someone that knows way more than I do about camaros, to let me know if I my information is correct before I head the wrong direction with this. My plan is to get as close to original interior and exterior as possible and probably do a mild rebuild on the 327 for now. Any comments appreciated.

This site is the worlds best, The people here are wonderful for helping you ,
Check the search for past posts for great information also.
I think you got a great deal for 6000. Can you post any pics?
You are the 3ed owner, You could track down the previous onwers and find out what happen to the original engine and also see if they have any of the original docs.

Thanks for the inputs. The car is over at a friends garage and I didn't get a chance to get the numbers off of the tranny and rearend. I will try as soon as I can.
