Yes is a 350 or 396 the only 2 cubic inch motors available in a 68 Camaro SS? My motor is a 327/300hp, and the #'s on the back of the block(drivers side) in a GM #'s manual said it came in a 68 Camaro SS, or 68 Corvette only.I don't have the numbers handy to post with you guys, but could that book be wrong? Thanks BRAD.

Im not quite sure myself Brad but this section of Team Camaro is for issues with the operation of the website here, questions on how the site works, how to use its features etc. The best section for your question is in the Tag section. It deals with the numbers and options that came with the cars. Im going to guess but Im pretty sure the SS only was 350 or 396 but dont take that as gospel.
Welcome to the site, you will learn alot in here. :)

68 Camaro SS`s only were available with a 350 or a 396, no 327`s in 68. The 350 engine powered SS had the 67 SS straight finned hood emblems where the 396 cars had a pair of the square 4 hole style emblems in the center. I believe both came with the 12 bolt rear ends, I know for sure the 396 cars required the 12 bolt rear housing. :)

The casting number of the block will cross reference both 302, 327, and 350 small blocks for a variety of chevrolet applications. A better reference to camaro application will be on machined pad directly below the front passenger side head. Check back in when you get these codes.
