What is the casting number?

It's probably a 2 bolt main, but there are some rare Canadian 4 bolt 305's.

There will be a pad towards the back of the block with numbers on it.

Check out the engine stamp locations:

As much as we always try to help any Camaro owner this site's info really covers the 1st gen only. You may find what you are looking for at www.mortec.com (http://www.mortec.com)

You'll find casting # locations and info on casting numbers. My understanding is there is a rare Canadian 4 bolt 305 back before 1980.
